I Will [Take 19] (Can You Take Me Back?) - The Beatles

"I Will" is a song by The Beatles that was released on The Beatles. It was written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney) and features him on lead vocal, guitar, and "vocal bass".

The recording session turned into a jam session, producing the short "Can you take me back" segment that ends "Cry Baby Cry" on most versions of the album, as well as "Los Paranoias" (released on Anthology 3). This quiet song required 67 takes, and George Harrison did not play. During The Beatles sessions, the Beatles often recorded in separate studios.[1] The 'vocal bass' comes in during the second verse of the song in the monaural version, but is featured from the beginning in the stereo version.
A love song for McCartney's future wife Linda Eastman, "I Will" was one of the songs worked on by the Beatles and their associates while in Rishikesh, India. Although the music came together fairly easily, the words were worked on in India, and remained unfinished even as recording began back in London.[

To me, this is a fascinating little song inserted between Cry Baby Cry and Revolution 9 on the White Album. When i first listened to the White Album all the way through, this "hidden track" caught me off guard and at first i found it scary. Cry Baby Cry is mostly in a major key. But Can You Take Me Back is a quasi-blues in a minor key, and Paul's singing feels distant, like a calling out into the void. It's almost as if the music itself is warning the listener that the next track (Revolution 9) is coming, it may be a scary ride (which it is), and this is your last chance to bail out before the audio scenery REALLY changes.
That being said, i love ALL of the Beatles White Album. A double-LP masterpiece.

All true...I Will, Los Paranoias (a Lennonism!), plus during demo-ing of (McCartney) Step Inside Love (Cilla B.? Can't think!). All broke-down into Can You Take Me Back. Though never finished, the Beatles (McCartney) had this bit © later on as a complete song. I agree...very hypnotizing... Eerie. Placed well between John's abrupt, suspenseful ending to Cry Baby Cry and the creepy, eerie, strange, beginning of Rev.#9. Gives me chills, especially in 1968, at night, with
