It kills me to say it but I can tolerate pretty much any other aspects of this launch except for this mundane music. It's such a bummer.

I said 6-10 hours in the video but it's 20 hours now or very close to it and my statement hasn't changed. I believe it will get much better.

Kinda ironic since the game theme is about wave & sound.

As someone who has just started Wuthering Waves, I too was dissapointed on how the music was kinda... Muffled? For a lack of better terms. Like I didn't even realised that there was combat music in the game until I really payed attention to it, unlike in genshin PGR literally slaps you in the face with awesomeness.

Great game but on the music department it is lacking.

My problem with the music is there isn't enough variation per area. I like how in Genshin there are several 2 minute tracks that rotate for every area/city and there are a few minutes of silence in between each track. It really gives each piece room to breathe, whereas in WW I feel like I have only heard one single track for the main city and I vibed it with at first but now I just...kinda want something else.

Yeah the music is a bit plain, hopefully in later updates they get back into it

Meanwhile a certain CC: "Wuthering wave soundtrack is better than Genshin".

I don't know what kind of weed they're smoking. 😐

I agree, I really love the exploration and combat. But the music hasn’t really hooked me like Genshin, HSR, HI 3rd. I do have faith that Kuro will create banger music later once the launch honeymoon phase is over.

I travelled to various region on the map with different environments and barely hear any noticeable difference in the music. Just like you said, the music "just there" and it's quite disappointing, since open world games i like (genshin, oblivion, skyrim, even fallout) have musics with strong identity to the area they are related to and it lift up the ambience and the overall gameplay experience.

Well, i think its missing a "Identity" or something like that. Compared to the obvious contender and final boss "Genshin Impact", its really lack a identity for me, something like i listen too and instantly associate to the game, something that bring me back memories you know. I'm hoping the best of the best for this game in every aspect possible, let's see what they will make in the future

Their whole ost budget was for the menu music

The music is what elevates the story and the gameplay.
It is what made the mondstadt(I still can't spell it) part of the story nostalgic to a lot of the players despite it being rlly simple. Like amber's theme, dawn winery theme and the main city's theme.

I mean the WuWa soundscape is just ambient, too ambient to be of any impression.

"Wdym marco your a video game music youtuber so you have to like every music because if you don't then your fake, i have listened to 20 music reactions every day so I'm practically mozart, bach and beethoven into one person and i can do my job better than you!"

In all seriousness i agree wholeheartedly, i personally dont see my self adding any of these songs into the playlist

Gameplay is good, but the music, the atmosphere and the characters are very bland. It's hard to immerse into.

Music was the last thing I thought I would be disappointed by in this game.

its especially sad considering how much sound and music concepts are in the lore and story of the game. resonators, tuning, sonance, echos, tacet, reverberation

Making everything about sound in the story was a weird choice when they neglected music and voice acting lol.

Not a Genshin killer but it does combat very well and gives something Genshin refuses to give so I don't think either will kill the other outright. If Wuthering Waves can course correct the story/music and get the lag issues together, it will be fine IMO.

Idk whether or not it's ironic how the game's full of sound-related terms for its world building but the music is more on the muted side for the most part.
I guess the silver lining is that it's not gonna distract from the gameplay...

Nier Automata has a post-apocalyptic setting and it has some of the most memorable music I've ever listened to, so Kuro has no excuse having generic, bland music for Wuwa

It will be interesting to see whether Kuro will pour as much investment into their music as Genshin. One of the best parts about Hoyoverse is that they treat the music as important as the story, combat, etc (mentioned in one of their music showcases). It's not just the money they pour into it. It's treating the music as an indispensable part of the game, which trickles down to the communication and workflow of the entire team.

Plus, having the LSO play your soundtrack is a hard one to top. 😁
