The Greg Maddux 78 pitch complete game. I was in attendance. It was the second game of a doubleheader.

I could hardly believe my ears when I heard that unmistakable voice calling Don Larsen's perfect game. Either I'd forgotten -- or never knew -- that Vin Scully worked that game. He had already been broadcasting games for 7 years at that point -- and would continue doing so for an astounding 60 years more, and died just last year. The greatest to ever do it.

Jack Morris' 10 inning shut out in game 7 of the 91 world series belongs here.

Harvey Haddix pitched a perfect game for 12 innings against the Braves who had the best offense in the major leagues at the time. The heart of the order for Milwaukee Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and Joe Adcock had more than 1600 career home runs between them and they couldn't get a base runner for 12 innings despite the fact that the Braves bullpen was stealing signs. Haddix ultimately lost the game, but when you listen to what other players said about his performance that night to me that ranks as one of the single greatest pitched games ever.

Sandy Koufax, September 9th, 1965: Perfect game against the Cubs with 14 strikeouts.

I remember watching Ryan's 7th no-hitter in 1991 with my dad. We were Red Sox fans but more than that, we were baseball fans. And that was something special to see. 44 years old. Made my dad -- who was 56 at that time -- dream that he could do it. Now I'm 56 and, yeah, I know how he felt.

Jim Abbott threw a no hitter with one hand. That is the greatest pitching feat of all time. David Cone’s perfect game only had 88 pitches thrown, 68 were strike.

Kerry Wood had that ball on a string that day, greatest pitching performance I've ever seen

Really? So Sandy Koufax throws back-to-back shutouts in the 1965 World Series on two days rest, the second a three-hitter; he held the single game strikeout record with 18 on two occasions; had 14 strikeouts in a perfect game (a record). And no top-ten game by Koufax? The greatest pitcher ever.

Hearing Vin Scully calling Don Larson's perfect game @7:00 is chilling.

I recall Warren Spahn and Juan Marichal both pitching 16 innings of shutout ball until Willie Mays ended the game in the bottom of the 16th with a homerun.

Jack Morris 1991 WS game 7 really should be included due to the context of that particular game and the stakes.

Sandy Koufax 7th game World Series On 2 days rest and his curve ball not working - after 1st inning with just his rising fastball - Sandy struck out 10, walked 3 and allowed only 3 hits no runs. And 2 days earlier pitched 4 hit shutout walking 1, 10 strikeouts allowing 4 hits. All your choices are good ones BUT how You missed this 7th game of the 1965 World Series is a big miss. AND I watched this game on TV with my Dad.

Not a cubs fan, but I've never seen MLB hitters as helpless as that day against wood.

Worth mentioning is the co great pitching performance of Sandy Kofax and Bob Hendley in 1965. Kofax threw a perfect game and Hendley a one-hitter which did not figure into the scoring.

Armando Galarraga isn't on here? I think there is only one 28 out PERFECT GAME in MLB history. Glarraga got his PERFECT GAME ruined by a bogus call, but forever cemented him in MLB folk lore!

IT WAS A MORE PERFECT GAME THAN ANYONE ELSE!
