This video is the result of my personal journey experimenting ways to keep my EarPods sounding good, free from wax/dirt. I am now happy with the last method I tried - which is great since next week Apple will make their AirPods available for purchase :)

Blu-tack is the answer. Maybe you know other similar product, such as Multi Tack, Patafix, Tack-it, Fun-Tak, Poster Putty, Sticky Tack, Gummy Sticker, Sticky Stuff, Poster Tack, Kennaratyggjó, Häftmassa, kludd - apparently, all of them work fine. By far the safest way to remove ear-wax from the metal mesh from your Apple EarPods and AirPods.

The oldest clip in this video was recorded 2 years ago (2014) - when I tried a “super deep clean bath” letting my EarPods immersed in warm water with Vanish, playing music for 10 minutes.

The method I use is wetting an unused toothbrush with hot water and scrubbing the wax off the mesh. Make sure to dry off the earbud quickly, and also keep the earbud facing down so the water doesn’t seep into the speaker. Then you put your mouth on the small speaker grill (make sure the earbud is clean before you do that) and blowing air through to push the wax out. (Make sure not to strain too hard) it worked incredibly well and basically restored my earbuds to brand new condition

I found that just smacking them really hard against the table made em both trash so i couldnt hear the difference

I have found that rubbing alcohol works best on any electronic equipment because it evaporates quickly and won’t cause wetness that effects electric components.

I just discovered that using an earplug (y'know, the kind that you use to reduce noise) to clean my earpods is a great solution! They're made of super soft foam to conform to the small nooks/crannies of earpods and it expands back to it's regular form for next-time use. Haven't seen anything on the web about this technique - so, i thought i'd place it here.

My mother one time washed my apple ear phones and they sounded still really good.

Since I'm still in high school, I listen to musical a lot with my earphones.
I look at them every now and them, and I see the nasty ear wax.

What I can recommend to get rid of the wax is to use a mechanical pencil
(0.7mm or smaller) to effectively clean the earphones.

I use this method occasionally, works every time

blow in the small hole and use a napkins and wipe the big hole as u blow in the little one so it pushes the wax out through the big hole as u wipe it and do the opposite thing if u want to clean the the little hole it works and it wont mess up your ear/airpods

I have an other suggestion, but only as an emergency solution.
Used/chewed and chewing gum. If you let it dry a bit it works exactly like blue tac.
I cleaned the ear phones afterwards with a bit of alcohol and they worked perfectly again :)

I used steel wool and a damp toothbrush. The volume went from 0 to +90 on right side. Perfect.
