The question of ethics, however, is a pressing one and already needs to be answered as we approach the ability to choose "merely" the sex of our babies. What will happen when we will be able to essentially program an entire human being?

I have an IQ of 92 and I wouldn't change myself or my children. Intelligence is not the only aspect of a person. There is personality, social skills, life skills, ... they are essential too. I'm not very bright but for some reasons, all of my friends are super smart. And one thing I notice about them is that they usually lack motivation. They hardly ever fail anything so when they do, they get really depressed and cannot stand up on their own .Everything was easy to them and they lose interest in learning. 
What I'm trying to say is, appreciate who you are, and improve yourself naturally. In the end, your success will feel much more satisfying than that of those smarties :P

Who is to say that advanced intelligence is solely a result of genetics? There are so many other variables to consider when determining the outcome of a developing mind. I personally have a well-developed mind and I credit it mainly to my interests and pursuits over the years. Even as a child my interests aided in developing creativity and pattern recognition and my teenage years were focused almost solely on deductive reasoning and abstract thought through the medium of writing. I believe that my genes are quite good, but because of my pursuits I have an intellectual advantage over my family and extended family. If television and sports were my pursuits I would be a completely different person.
Hope I don't come off as braggy, just wanted to give an example and I know this example better than any.
