Honestly... this is probably the scariest alien/parasite in the entire show. Imagine someone you thought you knew your entire life and had tons of memories with, was just a alien parasite that you got yesterday.

Uncle Steve was my favourite character, when they killed him off, i died inside. Remember when he taught Morty to ride a bike in Episode 2?

I just realized the reason the parasites take on more ridiculous forms later on in the episode is because Rick shows up. Notice the first parasite we see looks human and related to the family.
With Ricks constant antics being witnessed by the family the parasites realized they could become basically anything they wanted because the family wouldn't question it. I bet if Rick didn't show up all the parasites would of taken human forms to blend in.
