Thank you for your video. I also think that the push for the word "queer" will lead to the specific problems of sexual minorities to be watered down.

For example, gay and bi men are subject to most of the violence in the "queer" group. We need to talk about our specific problems and have words for it.

Also, this word is forced onto people who have never ascribed to it or even rejected it. This is not consistent with the "queer community's" claim for personal autonomy.

Also, there is no term for this in other languages. I am German and dislike the use of English terms when speaking German.

I stopped reading the article when he started getting into his transphobic narrative. I will return and finish the article, I just don't feel like reading this during my work hours.
What I do want to say is that: queer has become a community/umbrella term for the lgbtq+ community. I think it's totally fair that he doesn't want to be called queer, especially as an older gay man i can understand newer connotations not being able to erase the old ones. For a long time I rejected the queer label, only in recent years I came to accept it for myself.
It sucks for him that the podcast host didn't respect his label preferences, I think that wasn't right at all.

But that was the host's individual mistake. Not the fault of all transgender people. There is a reason we have been the LGBT for so many years. There is a reason the T is included. It's because we have been persecuted together, and have been fighting this persecution together.

Anyway, using this comment moslty as a placeholder so I can come back to the article.

Nobody's saying that you can't call yourself gay. Queer is just a more inclusive term that describes the whole LGBTQIA community. We're here, we're queer and all that.
