My aunt did that once to see what her kid would do. My cousin took it out as soon as Aunty left the house. He put it in a sink of hot water, every time he checked the water and chicken the water was cold. (Didn’t realize the frozen chicken would cool the water.). So he put the kettle on and just poured boiling water over the chicken for 20 minutes, then filled the sink with boiled water. Aunty assumed he’d forget and brought home dinner only to find a thawed, partially boiled chicken in the sink. She told that story at his wedding and asked his new hubby to remember to never let him help in the kitchen….
