So many people rush through this stuff and my brain cant make important connections before the problem is over and therefor I cant properly memorize the steps. I am a 63 yo grandfather that just custody of my grandchildren and I am here to say that its been a very very long time since I had to do any algebra.

Well today was my day to shine sort of speak. I did take my final exam which was mathematics. I did pass. Wow!!! It's been a hard road for me however, I now understand why it's important to listen to the teachers in class and that a high school diploma does matter. May 31 I get to stand with the rest of my fellow students for graduation. I cannot thank you enough for all of the instructional mathematical classes on youtube....wow!! What a day....

t + 2 = 7, t = 5 because 7 - 5 = 2, or if you swap 7 and t, so -7 + 2 = -t, or 7 -2 = t.
4y = 12, y = 3 because 4 * 3 = 12, or 12/4 = 3.
x - 5 = -10, x = -5 because -5 - 5 = 10, or swap the x and 10 so 10 - 5 = -x, -x = 5, x = -5.

Hello! I'm a normal 5th grader, soon taking the ihp test! I was struggling to catch up like the others, and I was so worried because the test was in FOUR days. 4y = 12 divide both sides by 4 y = 3
x - 5 = -10 add 5 to both sides x = -5
(-2/3)h = 6 multiply both sides by -3/2 h = 6 x -3/2
h = - 18/2 = -9

I am having a bit of trouble on the last problem. When multiplying the reciprocal, how do you come up with 6/1 when the answer comes out as 6/6. Also if I may ask, how does the multiplication process not cancel both fractions out leaving only the product? Instead of leaving the product multiplied by the reciprocal?
