Another advantage about silk base layers is that they dry so fast. On my last trip to Canada I took a pair of merino thermals and 1 of silk. The silk 1s would dry overnight when handwashed, which was great bcos the merino take a lot longer.
And I didn't take jeans this last trip - too bulky. Wool pants and pleather pants take up less space and are much warmer.
I did take a blanket scarf and absolutely no regrets - mine has zips and can also be worn as a poncho or even a skirt. And it doubles as a blanket during longhaul flights

Loved the simple and practical presentation. The grid idea is so helpful when looking at destinations and weather!

My theory was that good stockings with a dress or skirt would be a good option but as an Aussie it doesn't get close to freezing, so good to have a Canadian input! loved the other tips too

Great video! Packing for a winter trip can be such a challenge, but you've shared some really helpful tips here. I love how you broke it down into different quadrants based on the weather and the nature of the trip. It's so important to choose the right footwear and outerwear to stay warm and comfortable. And your advice on layering under everything is spot on! The tips on pants, turtlenecks, and accessories are fantastic as well. Thanks for sharing your expertise and making winter packing seem less daunting! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the tips :) I'm plant-based so I favour bamboo or hemp base layers and socks - super cosy, breathable, warm, and also thin for layering. There are lots of good places to get these nowadays, but I do like Thought. Nicer for the planet and the animals. I've tried organic cotton and recycled bottle ones, I would definitely go for bamboo or hemp over these.

I love traveling in winter because I have hide stuff in pockets. But it’s a nightmare to have everything fit in winter. I put jackets in those travel bags to make them smaller

Thanks for the tips! I'm a huge fan of Merino wool, but I still haven't tried silk base layers. Are there any particular brands you recommend for silk? 🌺Heidi
