Love this. Used to have a similar plastic Cold Steel knife, but shorter and without serration. The latter was obviously for stabbing. It was handy to keep inside my shoe, considering i was staying at a dangerous homeless shelter that also had a metal detector.

Oh cmon, a plastic knife is lightweight and will never rust. This line is good for having an emergency knife that you basically dont need to maintain. Sure you COULD use it for bad stuff, but there are practical applications for these plastic knives as wel

Whether a weapon is "offensive" or "defensive" is due only to how you use it. If you use it to assassinate, its an assassin weapon. If you use it to protect against the assassin, it's a defensive weapon.

A couple of thoughts occur here, and with all respect to the subject of the video:

Initially, it comes to mind that a lot of "no-metal knives" do indeed have a bit of metal in the handle, either powdered or just enough to set the detector off. Whether or not Cold Steel does this, I don't know. But it's specifically to avoid the very scenarios remarked on here. Popular examples here are in ceramic knives.

The other thought is that certain security forces are known to carry non-detectable weapons and equipment when they need to remain armed in non-permissive environments. Secret service and diplomatic detail are two examples.

But all of that said, yes you're absolutely correct. Cold Steel is very good at marketing to the "shit that shouldn't exist" crowd, and this kind of thing is absolutely a bad idea.

I could ABSOLUTELY see a reason to need that for Self Defense, like at a Ball Game or other Event where you aren't allowed to take Knives.

I feel like everything’s a trap where are used to live you could have a 9 inch knife in your pocket and ceramic knives. They wouldn’t care but now they changed it. You can’t have a 9 inch knife unless you have a hunting license that’s stupid.

Unless it's a walk through metal detector, security will always miss something with those hand held ones. They never check your feet, & I don't let someone refuse my right to defend myself. I was personally in a club that checked people at the door & someone still got stabbed. Another place they don't check is your wallet that's normally in your hand.
