This was a very hard book to read, and not only on an emotional level. I’m thankful for you guys’ discussion, I learned a lot! I thought it was just my English skills, but now I know the complexity of the novel is deliberate. I’m someone who does want to understand other cultures just out of curiosity, though 😅
I went to a high school that had students from tons of different backgrounds, which might have made me adopt certain mannerisms by interacting with everyone. Bre made me a little bit afraid I’m unconsciously culturally appropriating 😂
