To be honest, I feel like reading Beloved second is quite ambitious. The Bluest Eye seems a more attractice option for the second book, at least in my opinion.

Beloved has a very convoluted narrative that weaves both past and present together to represent how the characters live with their trauma. It is a difficult book, both from a content and a prose standpoint, so I wouldn't recommend reading it second. I feel like her books tend to use a narrative that delves deep into the minds of its characters, often at the expense of a "coherent" narrative, and I think that that's brilliant.
