In this video, Dr. Berg talks about pomegranate and is it okay to consume on a ketogenic diet. The juice is a bit too high in sugars despite having a moderate glycemic index, however, the seeds are low and they contain phytonutrients (antioxidants) that help your blood sugars and reduce insulin, so yes, on the seeds and NO on the juice.

Dr. Berg, every time I have a question, you almost always have a video that helps me. I just want to thank you! Because of you, I am striving to eat 7 cups of salad every day and I'm finding I really like it. I put blue cheese, pumpkin seeds, onion, avocado, oil and vinegar, etc. on my leafy greens and it's pretty darn delicious! The onion/blue cheese flavor combo is awesome, especially with the oil and vinegar and a little salt, pepper and potassium ("Nu-Salt")! I also prefer to use avocado oil instead of olive oil with my vinegar and it's awesome! Thanks again for getting me to each so much salad! I know it's good for me!

Pomegranate really helps me when im peckish or want to have something in my mouth. I just put half a cup of pomegranate seed and add a bit of hot water. I scoop with a spoon and chew it all the way down. It curbs hunger & sugar rush. Great in salad too. The hot water just makes chewing easy.

Hi dr Berg, was wondering when is the best time to take supplements?Especially vitamin Bs, Cod liver oil as well as zinc, magnesium. Is it better to take them before bed? Thank you!

I love pomegranates. I'm sure the ones from my 60 year old tree are higher in sugar than the charts show. They are way sweeter than any others I've ever eaten. I therefore eat very limited quantities of seeds now.

Now that we are somewhat more sophisticated, it might be useful to discuss fructose levels as well as glucose when discussing foods, especially fruit. If I understand correctly, fructose can only be metabolized as a lipid after lipogensis; basically fructose is energy for a rainy day.
