Can you spot the micro cache? 🔍

Geocaching in San Francisco is always a blast, and today Miranda and I set out to find a cache hidden on a small bridge outside the city. The weather was perfect, and we were excited to add a new find to our list. Armed with our GPS, we headed onto the bridge, eager for the hunt.

Our first target was a cluster of fake pinecones scattered around. We picked up each one, examining them closely, but none revealed the elusive cache. Undeterred, we moved to the trees lining the bridge, peeling back bark and hoping for a hint. Still, nothing.

Next, we tried lifting the light posts, thinking the cache might be cleverly hidden beneath. Each time, we were met with disappointment. We even checked under benches and scrutinized every nook and cranny.

Thirty minutes passed, and the excitement was starting to wane. Miranda and I exchanged glances, a mix of frustration and resignation in our eyes. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, the cache remains hidden. Reluctantly, we decided to call it a day and logged our search as a DNF (Did Not Find).

Even though we didn’t find the cache, spending the afternoon with Miranda, exploring and laughing, made it a memorable adventure. Sometimes, it’s about the journey, not just the find.

"No sore knees"... proceeds to look on the ground 😂

The bridge is a red herring. Look in the trees.

Pro Cache tip:
"No sore knees needed" means that it's definitely NOT at your Mom's house

“No sore knees needed”
*checks every low spot* 😑

I think it's in the trees. The clue hinted that you wouldn't have to crouch, and those trees are the only tall things around. Either that or the handrail of the bridge.

Caches are definitely the best way to spot weaknesses in any structure 😂

These guys spotted more things wrong at the park than the park rangers

I was with a forest service employee once in the mountains near Tucson, AZ. I saw him confiscate a geo cache he found under a rock. He called it littering and said people better hide it where he can’t find it and that he appreciates all of the free ammo cans. I’ve always wondered how he could be such an a-hole and how many people wasted their time afterwards looking for a cache that didn’t exist.

Maybe the micro cache is the friendships we made along the way

Most likely a displaced piece of wood that’s barley visible to the naked eye tbh

Even though we logged a DNF, this is still one of my favorite cache hunts ever 😂

When it says no sore knees, tree roots are called knees when they stick out of water or by water. Sharp eyes could be where branches have been cut, thats what tree eyes are.

it’s gotta be weird for someone who doesn’t know what you’re doing just watching two random tweakers inspecting every square inch of this bridge along with all the pine cones on the ground

That was a very helpful hint... yet they used their knees in almost every place they searched.
