If he was a plumber and owned Hanks and Son’s plumbing, no one would give a shit.

I honestly think he just wants to spend time with his kids doing something he loves.

Sometimes it isn’t what you know, it’s WHO you know.

Who the effin heck is telling the boy that another actor deserves the role of the younger version of your own dad because you don't look close enough to your dad??? Like how are you going to find a more younger version of him than his own son???

I mean, maybe they also just want to work with their kids on a project. Nothing wrong with that. And a lot of these actors being called out for nepotism are incredibly talented….it’s not a shock that their kids may also be incredibly talented. Be it acting, music, what have you. Nepotism is in every job. Even your local Walmart who had a parent work there as a manager and got their kid a job their at 16 over other applicants. It’s everywhere. Parents will always give their kids a leg up to succeed if they can. It’s what we do. It’s just more visible when you’re famous.

Family or not, it’s always who you know.

The thing is, this isn't exclusive to Hollywood. There are plenty of family-owned businesses, that have been around for centuries. Giving jobs to their families again and again. Even though sometimes their kids aren't right for the job.

Let the man give his family the opportunities they want. There's nothing wrong with giving your family a leg up through your own success.

When I clicked on this video I thought it was going to be Tom Hanks defending his failed rapper son Chet Hanks.

I think Tom Hanks has earned the right to hire his kids. Lol

My kid is my sidekick, and I love spending time with my kid.

People are so hypocritical. If Tom Hanks wants a have his kid in a movie then Tom Hanks is going to get his kid in the movie. There's nothing left to be said.

I believe nepotism is wrong. But if he's putting his own money into making that movie then he can hire who he wants.
Nepotism becomes a problem when its someone else's money and you hire your own out of favoritism instead of merit, example a govt job.

I think in most positions you should be able to help your loved ones get in ( most, not all ). It's a perk of success and I don't see anything wrong with that. So a family member gets one or two roles. Big deal. If he doesn't have talent and ppl just don't like him, then he won't make it far, no matter who his father is.

1 of all I think Tom Hanks own child would be the best person the accurately play him regardless of his acting experience
2 of all Tim Allen daughter originally auditioned to be a elf for a cameo but proved to be good enough to play a main character so her role was slightly earned
3 of all their children proved to be good actors when playing the characters

Imagine saying this when Kurt Russell or Michael Douglas were first starting out

Any person who is taking issue with nepotism in Hollywood has absolutely no idea how that industry has worked for over a century.

His son Colin Hanks played on Roswell and doesn't look like his dad either. I respect he took the John David Washington route and carved his own path. As long as he'a not pushing his son to the breaking point like Will did Jaden in After Earth in 2013, I don't see a problem with a father helping his son get started in his career.

Truman Hanks the most poignant, moving, insightful performance...as the Young Otto! Incredible insight..Bravo....

This isn't exclusive to any industry, it's just that we care weirdly too much about actors and their families. That's just how the world works and honestly, even if they get a legs up, they won't survive without talent.
