You can store all your upgrade materials and it will pull from your storage when you go to upgrade your items.

Number 17, if playing on PC, get a mod that allows ferrystones to drop from enemies. They don't sell for much but it fixes how limited / expensive the stones are in the early game.

Bad advice about immediately recruiting 2 additional pawns at the beginning. Wait, because the game will send you pawns if you have open slots, and there's 1 that is very helpful with questing direction.
