Previous version of the video accidentally contained images of human remains in a few frames, this was done by mistake. This is a reupload with images removed

Hello and welcome! My name is Anton and in this video, we will talk about a scientific paper that may have finally solved the mystery of Dyatlov Pass Incident.

My apologies for the previous upload, it contained a few pictures of human remains from the incident and it was missed during editing.

Can you imagine the horror of having a fire right there in front of you, and it's just not enough to save you. Even as it burns you, you still freeze to death. May those poor lost souls finally rest in peace.

Anton explains papers better than the actual authors at academic conferences. He should charge to film grant applications 😀.

Never thought I'd see Anton delving into the 'Mysterious Deaths & Dissapearances' genre. And now that I have, I absolutely want more of it.

I remember seeing a documentary on this that creeped me out. What was most odd to me was, after searching online for the autopsy report, it read that some of the hikers were missing eyes and one had their tongue cleanly ripped out.

I get sad when I see the pictures of the group before they embarked on their expedition. They all look so care-free and happy. It's a beautiful thing.

if a snow fell to their tent, how does that explain the tent is in good condition and the arrangement of the things inside the tent was still organized?

Too bad Yuri Yudin passed away before this study was done. The events really weighed on him, being the last to see the hikers alive. He really wanted the mystery solved and to know what happened to his friends.

I'm surprised how little this is getting questioned. An avalanche was one of the first theories but was easily disputed since the terrain was too flat for one and the tent was barely covered in snow. The injuries would make sense if there indeed was such a "snow wall" directly behind the tent but according to the photos there was no sign of such whatsoever. And how were there visible footprints weeks after or did the avalanche magically stop as soon as it struck the tent? It just doesn't make sense to me.

This theory is so one-dimensional cos there is not a single word why were they so poorly dressed inside the tent, especially if the stove was not used that night, and also why have they descended more than a kilometre before trying to return for the clothes if only in socks and underwear in minus 30°? Not to mention missing tongue and eyes...

Was not expecting dyatlov pass to be brought up on this channel!

Anton: “it’s explained! Papers, tests, observations”
Me: “ok, it’s aliens”

there is one thing this sort of does not explain... the fact is, we have photo's of the tent as it was found, and it was not crushed bellow snow, yes, a part of it did collapse, but nothing like the damage an avalanche would have done, much of the tent remained standing...

as for the fire in the sky... the dates when they are seen correspond to the dates of test launches done near-by, but non of them were conducted at the time, or near the time of the incident (today, the tests, their schedule, and most of the results (trajectory, height rocket-explodes, rocket-survived etc.) are public information )

I am sold on the katabatic wind theory; have been for years. I do not agree w/ the slab avalanche theory, tho. I have not read the Nature paper, but there are known facts that absolutely refute the hypothesis that a slab avalanche accounted for the physical trauma sustained by the hikers.
1. Investigators and trackers discovered 9 sets of footprints leading away from the tent, traveling approximately 1km to the tree line. The four hikers who sustained physical injuries would not have been able to make that trek, particularly the individual with the crushed skull.
2. The tent was found in the location where it was pitched. A slab avalanche would have carried the tent with it downhill.
3. One of the four individuals found in the ravine with physical trauma, buried in the snow, had a pen and paper in hand.

What I think happened was katabatic winds triggered a slab avalanche. The hikers heard it and fled immediately. Two attempted to set up an emergency fire pit as Dyatlov and two others attempted to trek back to the tent. All froze. Their superficial injuries were caused by wind blown debris; the two at the fire collapsed from hypothermia and fell into the flames, sustaining burns as well. One of them even bit the flesh from his knuckle to try to remain conscious. It did not work.

The remaining four hikers attempted to build a snow bivouac in the ravine. After successfully completing the structure, they remained inside of it. One took pen and paper in hand to begin writing. As one of the female hikers was crawling from the shelter, it collapsed. The weight of the snow and debris crushed them, causing the noted injuries.

This is the theory that works best imo. It was all nothing but a series of unfortunate events and poor decisions.

Anton: explains what happened most likely according to science
Youtube: adds 'context' by adding a wikipedia page as if this is a conspiracy theory video

Damn, for a moment I got scared thinking I was caught in an elaborate deja vu or a time loop.🤦

Yes that was a good scientific conclusion and explained the injuries on some bodies. Adding that they set up the tent in that unstable place due to the fog that took away the visibility and left them without seeing anything and night was coming; the photo of the tent assembly shows this. The two who died near the fire were the first to die and not the last because their bodies were lined up and their clothes were being worn by others. The scratches they had were because they climbed the tree. And finally, one of the members worked in the university's nuclear laboratory where he presented traces of radiation

It wasn't a avalanche. You're telling us that they cut their way out of Both sides of the tent wearing next to nothing, removed most of the snow off their tent an then made their way into the woods without taking their clothes an supplies. Also this "avalanche slab" that could crush them didn't even knock over the skis used as tent poles. They sustained such horrific injuries but there was no blood found in the tent by senior forensic expert Genrietta Eliseevna Churkina. The tent remained in a museum till the 70's, I think, till it had to be destroyed due to mold but in the photos of it in the 70's you can clearly see it was cut from the inside on both sides. The angle of the slope was less than 15degrees. They were experts of survival and knew full well they wouldn't survive without their tent, supplies and especially their clothes but 1 of them kept his camera. The last photos on it were clearly took at night. This Theory falls down in a great many ways.

The only problem with this is that the four who had the worst injuries were those who tried to build a shelter, some considerable distance from the tent. The injuries were reported as catastrophic and, therefore, it sounds implausible they would have survived long enough to build a shelter, They also may have taken some of the clothing to the two men at the fire site. This is by no means solved.
