9/11 was such a massive event that every channel cut into news broadcasts that day. Literally every channel on the television was 24 hour news for like a week from 9/11-9/16. Nickelodeon, MTV, BET…. All news broadcasts.

Its my fault my class saw it too.

I was in 11th grade and was in the office, in trouble, watching CNN.

So when I went back to class I was like "a plane flew into the World Trade Center" and right as the teacher turned the tv on the 2nd plane hit.

It was awful all the kids being picked up from school and friends finding out their relatives died . I was in second grade it’s a core memory

Lmao my mom thought me and my brother were watching sesame street but it had cut to a live feed on breaking news of the attacks. I could imagine she turned and was like “one plane! Ah ah ah— two planes! Ah ah ah”.
Im sure that was a wild morning idk

My teacher turned on the news because of 9/11. Looking back only my science/math teacher had any sense. Who had 6th graders watching that horror all day? He said we weren’t at school for that and carried on with lessons as typical. RIP Mr. Harmon.

Our teachers rolled tvs into every room and made us watch it.

In kindergarten we were watching the space ship Challenger launch.... And I was that kid that said watch it BLOW UP!!! And it did... The class started crying and the teacher walks over and shuts off the TV!! While I'm bouncing around happy that I guessed right... Needless say she called home and I went home early.

9/ 11 i got on a bus paid the fare because i was on my way to work. Right after i put in the last quarter they announced the planes crashed into the twin tower and the fare will be free for the rest of the day

It was a free ride when i already paid. . I totally understood alanis morrisette for the first time that day.

I worked as a vet tech for a small family owned vet office in Philly, the one time he invited us into him private home upstairs was on 9/11. He saw the first plane hit, ran downstairs to get us and when we got upstairs, we all saw the second plane hit. It was unreal.😢

We'll never forget where we were that day. And we'll never forget the lives lost, esp the brave 1st responders.❤ 🇺🇸

I saw that live as well… I was in kindergarten afternoon track so I was home.
When the second plane hit my mom started screaming and crying. A few minutes later while she was doing the dishes all the channels became live news channels.
I told my mom people were falling from the building… her face went white when she saw . She whispered their jumping….
Nothing has ever been the same since.
America before, and after 9/11.

My birthday is 9/11/01. It’s always felt a bit weird, I’d get a story when someone would find out here and there, but once i got to the age i was able to buy alcohol it went even further. Every time i get a beer now i either hear a story about how they cant believe how long it’s been and how they remember that day or how someone they knew died in the buildings. I always hear them out too. At one point I found it a bit annoying, but after reading a lot about it and thinking about what everyone had to feel like and went through I felt i understood a bit better. I know i have no real ties to what happened, but because I happened to be born on the same exact day I feel like I weirdly do.

I was 7 years old and my teacher was called out of class for a little while and when she came back she made us hold a minute of silence for those who died there. She didn’t give any details just that there was a tragedy that happened. No one really understood what exactly happened until our parents came to pick us up. My mom legit thought war was starting and she was in total panic mode which scared me and my sister. She led us to believe a plane would come crashing into our apartment building too when we lived all the way in Montreal, Canada…

That day, we thought our World was ENDING, but we were united as a country.
Here we are 2025, our World is actually ending and we are divided.

Seeing dozens of people committing suicide when I was 12 years old was not okay. I know our teachers were shocked out of reality as well but come on.

Here in Australia, I was working very late. I watched the whole tragedy. I'll never forget it

Unlikely. Every station in the United States was playing the terrorist attack. I remember getting upset because all the channels were the same before my mother walked into the room and noticed the television. I thought it was just some dumb action movie as i was from Rural illinos and had never seen the city. 6 months later, i was in iraq.

i had a teacher a while ago whose birthday is 9/11, and the place she worked at (at the time) was near the twin towers so she literally SAW both planes hit. ON HER BIRTHDAY. 😭

Must've been a fancy af daycare to have a tv connected to live cable in 2001...
