ROG Ally X - The Definitive ROG Ally...But Should You Upgrade?

The ROG Ally X released last month and now that I've had some time with it I wanted to give my thoughts on this when compared to the original and talk about the differences between the two. At the end of the day what people do with their money is up to them so I expect I'll be getting comments saying buying the new X is a waste while others say getting the original is pointless. Everyone's gonna have their own rationale for that and this is just me sharing mine in video. Regardless let me know what you think in the comment section!

I absolutely love the Ally X. And I did upgrade from the Ally. If you have the $$$, it’s so worth it.

I'm just happy that ASUS went back to the drawing board and fixed all the issues I had with the original Ally and why I stayed away. This looks like an amazing deal for anyone wanting to get into the windows handheld market! Great video Steve!

Coming from SD Oled, this has been solid for me. Being able to play Fifa and COD is a plus, higher performance, and longer battery life. I’m running a dualboot with Bazzite for the steam experience so no issue for me. This is a top 1080 screen. VRR on a handheld is nice.

Coming from someone who has the ROG ally the 399 one it is bang for your buck compared to the steam deck. Playing call of duty is a blast and halo the master chief collection works fantastic. Although there are some games that don’t work due to not having the extreme if you are looking to play some older titles or even Spider-Man work great on it. It is worth it for sure. Now I know the Z1 Extreme ROG will go down in price in the next months but if you are in a pinch and want something better then a steam deck go ROG Ally it is so worth it!

As a new buyer, the retailer sale on the Z1Xtreme original Ally was $500 whereas this was $800. $300 was just too much of a difference for me.
