BIG (Rare) Fish Mystery Island - Animal Crossing: New Horizons

"Rare Fish Island" or "Big Fish Island" in Animal Crossing New Horizon. It might look like a regular mystery island, but this island holds a secret. It actually only has big fish and rare fish are very common here. You can find one at clifftops, river mouth, see, etc.

I actually didn't pay attention to it, until realized that it looks weird that only big shadows of fish are in the water, then I realized that this is a special island.

I was able to catch fish like Tuna, Oarfish, Coelacanth, and Sturgeon, but not just a few, but come home full of those. The value of all those fish is 430,000 bells, much better than Tarantula island, which I tried as well, and it's super fun if you enjoy fishing like myself.

I found one and caught 6 coelocanths, 3 Arawanas, 2 arapaimas, a barreleye (tiny fish!), multiple sharks, a dorado, 2 trevallys, and a napoleon fish... my husband was getting irritated... by the time I gave blathers the new fish, i had over 200, 000 bells from selling the balance.... what an awesome island.

I was watching this while catching fish and I randomly caught a coelacanth. Now that is an epic gamer moment.

Some tips: you can scare the "smaller" fish so the rare ones have a chance to spawn again. I used like 4 fishing rods but if you just focus on the big-shadow ones you might be good with less. Don't run near the water, as you can scare the rare fish if you see them.

Make sure you recognize the island so you know this is the one when you get there. If you see small fish, it's probably not it.

If you can upgrade your inventory space, do that. I did it today this morning before getting to the island, so lucky. I wouldn't otherwise has so much space (10+ more).

I also recommend making the fishing rods ahead of time, get materials from the rocks and trees and make like 3-4 fishing rods and drop them near the entrance than just focus on fishing fun!

The clifftop doesn't spawn as many fish as the other areas. If you have fish baits it makes it easier to get rare fish from that location.

I went back with an inventory full of rare fish. Of course, you can stay more farm for the more expensive fish, like the Coelacanth (15, 000 bells).

Some rare fish prices (for March, fish change based on month keep that in mind):

Coelacanth: 15, 000
Oarfish: 9000
Tuna: 7000
Sturgeon: 10, 000
Golden trout: 15, 000


ENJOY the time there, don't rush it. I spent hours there as I knew I might not get to see it again anytime soon.

Right after this video i went to an island and it didnt have small fishes but all i kept catching were red snappers and football fish ;-; buttt caught one sturgeon and an oarfish

I camt exactly remember, but i think this was the ispand where i got 7 dorados, 2 Arowanas, i THINK a coelacanth, a hammerhead, and a great white. The layout looks so familiar but im not sure..

I was literally just traveling to a deserted Island and I found big fish island
There I found 2 oarfish 2 tunas 5 blue marlins and 2 coelacanth (and it wasn’t even raining)
