Using Jeet Kune Do To Dominate MMA

Bruce Lee's art, Jeet Kune Do, was developed as a self-defense system. However, since his death, the world has been introduced to combat sports like MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). MMA and JKD share a very similar methodology in the way they incorporate all ranges and types of fighting. Here, Sifu Singh demonstrates how to use trapping and Tai Chi principles to enter a ring sport like MMA.

Great- I love how the instructor shapes the partner’s timing, breath holding, or follow up. This is so valuable- I learned so much. Thank you 🙏
Life without fear- that’s what I want.
I fought my first real fight (I’m 59 yo.)!
I did well and used my Martial Arts training. I was calm. I hate to say it but it was the best thing that’s happened for me. Less fear in my world. The fight was close range and I’m going to incorporate the instructor’s concept into my training.

Great video. We were just playing around with this exact concept last at Muay Thai class. Except for the shooting. We were having fun pairing this with a knee to the midsection. When you slap your adversary’s hands down, he instantly and automatically brings them back up to guard position. As his hands start going back up, your knee is already on its way!

I'm 58, not healthy and unlikely to start doing a martial art, but I really liked this video and subscribed because I suspect these lessons will apply to every aspect of life, not just fighting. Looking forward to seeing more!

The smaller the punch the less telegraphic and his touch reflexes are faster because of chi sao and his deflected are tight from silum Tao and he moves his center off the line off his attack great stuff

Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon against Bob Wall showed that a punch can initially block an opponent's lead hand/arm and then continue as a strike. One movement. With both hands back-to-back, you can see Bruce whip outward slightly to move the lead arm and then graft it into a thrusting straight punch. No need to recoil even the slightest. In a left to right stance, you can hammer forearm to forearm and graft into a thrusting straight punch, almost like bouncing off his forearm. I've done it many times sparring in class. Gliding across his forearm as you continue the straight punch gives you a feel for where his arm is and where it might be going rather than just smashing it out of the way. It's very fast but very effective.

Addressing pride and ego is a great philosophy not only in martial arts, but in everything. Humility comes before honor.

Reminds me of all the "wing chun beats boxing" videos where a guy who doesn't fight gets one of his WC students who doesn't fight and never boxed to put on boxing gloves so they could pretend to fight and viola! Wing chun DOMINATED boxing over and over lmao.
Still, this style of trapping works in real fights, including professional fights. Its basically just stuffing the hands or pulling open the guard for a second to land your own shot and you see people do that in pretty much all striking sports - boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, and yea, in MMA.

I would really love to practice with such a great Sifu. Is your school in the US? Do you do seminars in Europe? Peace and respect.,
