The JKD fighter didn't use the main lesson taught in JKD. Intercepting a kick with a punch followed by a kick works quit well in TKD.

I don't know how the skill levels of the two fighters compare, but in my opinion these fights are not realistic. TKD works from a greater distance than JKD. However, a skilled JKD fighter, if he can bridge the distance into trapping range will have the advantage on a pure TKD fighter. If the JKD person stays at a distance and attacks, he will not do well, as demonstrated in this video. Put the two of them into a closet, my money is on the JKD man.

Taekwondo fighters intentionally fall to the ground after a high kick so incase they miss… they cant be countered. Not in UFC mate.

The JKD fighter doesn't follow the JKD principles of intercepting and countering.

He gives a couple of blows but gets kicked in the face repeatedly because he thinks he's in control.

That's the main problem and a very good lesson in how to find the right teachers to teach you how to defend yourself.

The jkd kid got the form but not the true essence of JKD to intercept.

Against a Good JKD practitioner, that TKD guy should have eaten alot of straigh lead punch and side kick.

Style isn't everything. You put an untrained Driver into a F1 car, he loses to the Professional in a Toyota AE86.

Karate and TKD takes longer to get really good at. JKD is and isn't a style and clearly the JKD guy needs to train more.
