I adore Sicilian super-food❤ I enjoy them from any bar, but the ones on sale in the departures at Catania airport are really excellent too!!! curious to know how the involtini taste now but they’ll have to be really special to beat the arancini!

So it‘s More Like the arrancine from catania - there the rice is also cooked in the sauce and they usually contain more cheese.
My favourites were eint the ones with ragu though, I liked the „alla norma“ filled with Eggplants in tomato sauce and ricotta salata 🤤😋

But I have to say I never had the Arrancine in Palermo, but in Cefalù where they make them in the style they do in Palermo.

They were all amazing, but I trink I prefer the ones from Catania by a slight margin.

What I like more about the Palermo Style: The saffron is more pronounced. In Catania the rice still has a the saffron flavour but it‘s more subdued because the rice is mixed with the sauce before forming.

The best thing is mozzarella in carrozza: a big slice of mozzarella between two slices of bread, covered with egg, breadcrumbs and deep fried

I still prefer arancinp but supplis are delicious. I think its mostly because i have to make them all myself either way do i dont get to make supplis much often. And buying them is expensive in verona.

quando mia madre preparava i supplì era una festa: noi (6 figli!) cominciavamo a telefonare mimando il telefono, era tutto un "pronto?" "pronto!" "mi senti?" "allora d'accordo" tutto intorno alla tavola. praticamente un centralino...
when my mother prepared the supplì it was a party: we (6 children!) started calling by miming the telephone, it was all "hello?" "hello!" "Can you hear me?" "OK then" all around the table. practically a switchboard...

Those remind me of the boudin balls we have in Louisiana, usually accompanied with a spicy little remoulade dipping sauce. So delicious!
