HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!! They are for the company, not for you.

HR is literally part of the company you are working for. Every time you talk to them, treat it as if you are talking to the cops. Be clear, concise, professional, and record everything.

When I was 19, a 50-something year old manager sexually assaulted me. I knew that no one would give a shit because I witnessed many instances of abuse being swept under the rug.
The next time, I made sure to call him out in front of *everyone* and I very clearly said “Do NOT touch me. I do NOT want to be touched by you.” To which this freak responded, “I know, that’s why I do it.”
Instantly fired and banned from ever stepping foot on any company property ever again. HR didn’t even have a chance to do damage control.

This but I recorded the conversation bc I'm in a 1 party consent state 😂

But yea, HR blamed me for being bullied by an individual who has literally DECADES of documentation on bullying folks. But it's MY fault obviously 🙄

I had an HR manager (a lady) who was not doctumenting any sexual harrassment incents because SHE was also sexual harassing the female employees. It went to court and bit her in the butt. Unfortunately, she's still in HR in Portland, OR. Her name is Melony. If your HR is a lady with the initials M.G. in Portland RUN.

I’m old enough to remember when we had “personnel departments” - you know, for persons - rather than overtly treating employees as “resources”

Ooh my dad was an HR exec and he documented everything- every phone call, every conversation. He taught me to document, document, document.

I've been using recap emails since the '90s. Usually after a phone call with a coworker that had details and expectations discussed. At a minimum, it is a double check that both of you are on the same page.

❤😂 It's 2024 anyone who says they didn't know they'd need the receipts is lying or too stupid to be helped.

And always bcc your own email. They can block access to your work mail, delete emails sent etc. make sure a copy of everything is going to somewhere where they can’t get to it. If it’s to do with medical stuff, include your GP in the email chain. And if you’re getting ready to pull the trigger just info dump to your lawyer or solicitor from your own email. It’ll be included in discovery anyways, and when they will inevitably claim that unfortunately they lost all personnel files pertaining to you, your counsel can say oh that’s a shame, here’s a copy of everything.

Almost, everytime I see your channel it gives me new appreciation for my work place. They aren’t perfect but you can only engage HR by entering a ticket. If you start talking to your manager about leave or anything of that nature they stop you and advise to put in a ticket to Hr they respond within 24 hours usually same day. They respond in writing in the ticket and you respond that way as well, any calls you have about a matter is recorded and emailed to both parties. They’ve done a lot of things right. However, they aren’t perfect no one is, there have been law suits especially with changes about work from home. I’ve seen people who are good at their job receive good treatment for going to rehab, or 18 months of maternity leave, or because someone was going through medical issues. It definitely explains the high amount of tenure where I work.

My bosses are remote. HR wanted us to just DM in Teams but I absolutely send an email, too. Because HR is not our friend. 💯💯

I use a voice recording app to record my conversations if need be. NC is a one way recording state. Meaning you have to be in the room and you do NOT have to let the other person(s) know you are recording.

Yep, I was fired last month because i complained against the union. 🤷 Plus once you answer a question they thank you because it opens up attacks.

I mailed HR a picture of Mater from Cars eating a corndog captioned with "Insubordinate this"

My employer's HR department only allows written complaints. Frees up their people if they don't have to spend all day on the phone. Not always perfect, but the paper trail is strong.

Can somebody travel back to 1995 and tell me this stuff?! Ugh, the "What If" scenarios so haunt me...

I learned this the hard way! It’s so true though. If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen and HR, even at a school, will straight up lie right to everyone’s face.
