this is ironic, because i remember this happening. it took me a month or 2 as my nails grow fast, although... it wasn't that bad. I think I pulled it off as it was cracked, but damn do though hurt like hell.

“What is your trauma?”
“A nail injury.”

This happened to me and it takes around 5 months to completely return to normal if the nail doesn’t fall off.
The pain is also really bad.

I slammed my thumb on a car door while 7 months pregnant. It was so painful I was at a party & waited but had to go to the hospital because of the throbbing pain. Holy cow they burned a pin size hole on my nail to release the blood & blood flew out. I was released, walked to my car & had to take a couple minutes to cry from the pain. Afterwards my nail fell off while I was shampooing my hair and by the time I had my baby I had a decent nail. I think the prenatal vitamins helped.

I’ve had this happen twice, it’s very cool to see throughout the time it regrows

When my daughter was 3 her pinkie finger got slammed in the door at my sisters house on accident. Her pinkie nail was hanging on by a thread. Drove her to the ER immediately. I didnt want her to loose her nail so the Dr put 4 stitches in 2 on each side of her nail. Shes now 20 and her nail didnt fall off and you cant even tell she ever had the stitches or that there was ever trauma there. Thank you to that Dr.

This happened to me twice, but it’s crazy that there was a second nail already nice and grown underneath the first one 😮

One of those rare occasions where the time lapse needs to be slowed down a bit 🤣

Ah I had one of these injuries on my right big toe. It was during my graduation and the only nice shoes I had at the time were a little bit under my size. The whole day I felt the shoes squeezing my feet. I didn't even feel when the injury happened because it was drowned out by the pressure of the shoes. Like 75% of the nail fell off when I clipped it and there was a lot of blood under it. Weirdly painless though. It grew back in about 2 months.

I remember when I was little I had a compound fracture for the tip of my thumb. They cleaned it up, gave me some meds, put it in a splint and sent me on my way.

Honestly the worst part was afterwards when my finger nail split into two off to the one side and the bigger side of my nail fell off after doing this while the small part was still “healthy” (I guess that’s the best way to put it)

The way it healed looked wild. In the center was a spot that was thick and tough like a scab and almost as hard as a nail while I had the one healthy side of my nail still there. My new nail was growing in, but it pushed on this little spot that really bugged me because it hurt.

It took a good year and a half for my thumb nail to look normal again and still it looked like I chipped a “V” shape into my nail.

I used to graze my thumb slightly on something and it would be just the craziest pain I’ve ever felt. (I think it was from my fingertip)

I wish I had pictures from back then, it was the gnarliest thing to look at. I’m glad it wasn’t too much worse or else i wouldn’t have my thumb. It looks funny now, but it’s all healed up!
