I had a
TKR 2 weeks ago. I really appreciate you posting these exercises on YouTube. They are such a big help to me!

The patella / kneecap movements scared the heck out of me. That's when I realised there was no scar nor swelling on the model. I won't be doing this one seeing at 3 weeks I have no knee cap to find. Thank you.

Suggestion: It would be quite helpful if the subject's surgical knee is indicated in each of the exercises, or you stick to one knee as being the operated one. I notice that in one of the exercises the surgical knee is shifted to the left, while in others it stays the right.

However, this video is simple, concise and is helping the recovery in a big way. Thank you so much.

The exercises are very helpful, but not only it’s a regular, healthy person performing them- but you don’t stress enough how long to hold in certain position - how many times we need to repeat specific exercise to regain the knee strength & mobility in optimal manner & time.
It’s like looking at a store window wearing beautiful dress, but it is only size 0

After my knee replacement operation I attended a SPA for 14 days. Which specialised in recovering from hip / knee replacement operations. Until the staples had been removed on day 12 after the operation we were not allowed to bend the knee. All the physiotherapy excesses were based on making the leg straight. Reason being the staples scraping on the underlying tissues would upset the knee. Even the ankle exercises were restricted in frequency. (Yes I did do to many of them and felt the staples.)

The surgeon attitude at the clinic after the operation was to bend the leg as much as possible. But as soon as I was transferred to the SPA where I received 30 minutes physiotherapy a day plus other treatments was take things easy. If your feeling the knee was being upset stop. The SPA had 15/20 patents at anyone time recovering from knee or hip replacement. I agreed with the spa on the level of exercises required. Either that or live on morphine injections to sleep at night.

How about you use a model that's had a knee replacement. I get the idea behind the exercises but the strength and flexibility that your perfectly healthy subject has is not even close to that of someone who's had a joint replacement and therefore not very helpful.

You are terrific Therapist & give very good instructions, unlike most of the YouTube Docs & therapists making all the jokes thinking that being silly will entertain patients recovering from TKA. Which is no joke

There is no such thing as a comfortable relaxed stretch following a knee replacement! It hurts like hell even three weeks post op.

Coming around from TKR my entire left leg from toes to hip was swollen like a drum. Sitting on a toilet seat was unbearable for the thigh. By day 12 the majority of the swelling had gone down just leaving the area around the knee swollen like a drum. Now day 38 since the operation the knee has a little loose skin around the knee cap. As for feeling the knee cap it is not possible. The scar above and below the knee is hardly visible but over the knee cap there is three quarters of an inch which has healed then opened again.

Wouldn't a TKE in standing into resist ball be more suitable instead of the don tingy exercise?

I am 2 weeks post surgery and can honestly say that I am no where near being able to do this. I am in uk, had the surgery on the Monday was allowed to get out of bed on the Tuesday due to the spinal and sedation. I had 2 visits to the gym for physio and was given a sheet of paper with exercises on it. I found them to be badly demonstrated and have downloaded and printed exercises for after TKR. I was discharged on the Thursday with no further appts for physio. I will be seen by my surgeon at 6 weeks post op. I am also a fibromyalgia sufferer so every pain is magnified. The way it stands at present I wish I hadn’t had the surgery done. I have zero confidence in my knee.
