Have flushed niacin daily for over 23 years now. Probably drink too much, and smoke to many cigars, but am still very healthy at 63 years of age. Work out isometric and weights 4-5 days a week also.

When my cholesterol went to 19, my cardiologist suggested I stop taking it. I stop taking the statin and fired my cardiologist.

I take the full flush niacin. It lights me up and I love it!

Nice to know it expands arteries and veins.

I take a 500MG Endur-Acin (Nicotinic Acid (Niacin)) before bed to avoid dealing with the red flush during the day, but honestly I enjoy the flush and skin burning sensation; it's just the right amount of sensation all over the body that kinda feels good, like tingly feeling all over and/or medium spicy food for the skin 🤷‍♂👍

I am working closely with my Nurse Practitioner but also doing my due diligence while taking Niacin. I am Iron/B3/B12 deficient. I had gastric bypass surgery back in 2007 which has led to a malabsorption issue. I take Flush Free Niacin Inositol Hexanicotinate 500mg every other day instead of daily. When I have my blood work done, my Nurse Practitioner will tell me whether what I am taking is adequate enough or not. My iron is already a lot better now. I only take 32.5mg instead of 65mg. Anything over 45mg is considered unsafe. So as you can see, I am working with my medical crew to not only get things at a safe level but a working level.

Also great for anxiety and seasonal allergies in my case.

Knowing what the flush is and does makes it desirable.

currently, i work in an industrial freezer warehouse. Negative 20 fahrenheit. Yep! You read it correctly. Haha, for all the frozen things we like to buy at our groceries. Anyways, I said that to say, Niacin flush does not bother me, from a cosmetic perspective, because I have to wear full winter gear and warm balaclavas and warm overalls all day everyday, anyway. Haha but yes an excellent short video on niacin.

Thank you, Dr. Brewer. I take the niacin in the morning with my caffeine and water for fasted cardio. I love the niacin flush! It kicks in and I use it as a signal to increase the intensity! 🤣

I took niacin to lower ldl and it wasn't terribly high so I didn't really need to take it but I did anyway. I bought it online so it wasn't a prescription and it was 500mg I took daily. I never received any side effects like any flushing or upset stomach which is really strange.

Hi Doctor Brewer,
What's your opinion on Niacin ER also named Niaspan, and where I can obtain the product. Most online vitamin outlets have no idea on the difference. My Cardiologist doesn't recommend anyone taking niacin in any form and from old school of ouching Statins...gerrr. ...I'm looking for a new Doc here in St Petersburg Fl. Thanks for any help/suggestions you can provide.

I put powdered niacin in my water which I sip throughout the day.
Full-flush niacin without the flush.

I was on 1500 mg for a long while and then recently noted a significant increase in my fasting BG. I stopped taking it for several months to see if it could be the cause. There was no change in my high BG but my LDL in creased over 40 points and my HDL dropped 15 points. I'm now suspending use of Repatha and low dose crestor to see if the rise in BG could be from them. Btw, I eat very low carb, unprocessed food and exercise daily. Bodyweight is normal.

I took my first Niacin capsule last week. It was 500 mg. Yes, I had the flushing, however I had a violent reaction to the one capsule, and have not taken another one. I use a doctor who can test to see if I had an allergic reaction to it, but this test won’t be until next week. Really alarmed me.

There's a second pathway involved in the niacin flush. Niacin causes platelets to release serotonin, which increases the flush.
I've taken niacin for over 20 years, and the best way to eliminate the flush is to not skip any doses

I took niacin 500 mg and it shot my blood sugar up significantly for a few days, even after I stopped it. I also experienced shortness of breath, severe cramps in my legs while sleeping and my heart was beating harder.

Is 500mg of Niacin safe to take with 20mg of a statin each day?
