I love this show because the conversations and arguments and activities are realistic. Like in film teen conversations feel forced but it flows so well and feels natural I love it

the empowerment that exudes from this video and the show "Betty"transcends skateboarding. That's why woman are so important to any scene. it's more than just inclusion. You have to open you eyes to the people who really get it how they live. Bravo to Nina, Ajani, the Betties, Crystal and HBO.

I had sculpture class with Nina and Ajani in high school, they were super chill and made me laugh all the time.

Fun fact: I’ve known about this series before anybody else because they shot it at my school and then at my library. I told them I knew how to work with microphones and cameras so I made friends with most of the people behind the camera! I really hope it‘s as good as it looks!

I actually like the show, I know there was a movie before this show came out, but it's not currently on HBO🤷🏾‍♀️.
And Honeybear is my favorite character!
When I signed up for Derby classes earlier this year, people had negative things to say "I didn't know black girls were doing that"/"why would u do that? You're black (with a chuckle)"...sounds ignorant indeed! I used to skate on inlines skates up until my 20s. Then I fell off from doing that. I bought quads in January and was determined to learn how to skate on those, so I had 1 full month of Derby Practice before the pandemic shut stuff down. I plan to get back to it after all this is over, and finishing learning in these quads (they seem much harder to balance on than rollerblades *shrug*, just my opinion lol).
