It's so gorgeous, they are just sitting there looking at each other hard in love for the full minute of the song and its just... lovely. There's no insane animation like Winter wonderland or whacky showmanship like baked with love and yet I just... love this so much more for some reason

I think this song represents Betty's journey more than Simon's, after all, his tragedy came from an accident, while her was trough continuous sacrifice.

As Betty herself said, she made her life so much about Simon, that maybe there's no much left of her.

But, after seeing this scene, it really makes you realize that it didn't meant they had a relationship of codependence, but a relationship made of pure passion for each other.

A perfect life cut short by things beyond their control, and the tragedy of trying to stop it.

Something that I really like about Simon and Betty's relationship is that it's not perfect. It's very flawed. We even have a whole episode about how Betty would be better off if she left for her trip. As happy as they are together, Simon is somewhat selfish, not thinking about Betty's opportunities. But at the same time, it's not enough for me to root against them. They're both individually charming that I want them to work.

seeing Simon and Betty's once happy relationship really makes me admire my toaster and my bath tub.

Watching all the episodes of adventure time, you know that Simon and Betty were in love with each other. However, we never really understood just how much they were until we got a flashback of them just being in love, without all the craziness and magic in between. Seeing Simon and Betty just staring into each others eyes and just taking in this moment which might seem like a minute to us, but an eternity to them, it really adds another layer of sadness when rewatching the show. I am loving this so far, and am honestly looking forward to where this plot is headed.

Having watched the series finale and coming back to this song over and over, I realize something.
This truly is the perfect song for Simon and Betty. Yes, it's a gorgeous love song. It's also the biggest red flag.
The song is literally telling us, before the finale, everything the finale did.

"You and me, we've got something to lose. Boy you've got your dreams, and I've got everything in you."
Simon was free to pursue his goals because of the constant sacrifices from Betty. Her dreams became seeing Simon fulfill his own.

"I'll be there through all the reveries cause I believe in you more than I ever believed in me."
At this point, Betty had already sacrificed for Simon. She put her dreams on hold to follow him to find the Enchiridion and even when they came back, she let him take all the credit. When he met her at the bus stop, she could've left. Instead, she saw Simon's potential as more than her own and gave in.

"And maybe this is killing part of me but it ain't called love without a little tragedy."
This final one hits the deepest to me. Betty knew what she was doing when she went with Simon and she accepted all of it.
Throughout the series, we see several glimpses into Betty's perspective. That she knew what she had done was wrong and she didn't care. In another life, she would change her mind, warn herself, something. In this reality, however, she had made her choices and regretted nothing. She had lived her choices, seen amazing things.

The Fionna and Cake series was such a love letter to fans. It was beautiful. I'm glad the ending gave Betty one final chance to teach Simon something. A lesson she had learned over and over.
Your life is worth living. Not chasing past decisions but truly living. It was the way Betty lived and how Simon should have lived after she was gone. She didn't waste time trying to fix a past mistake. Everything she did in the series was a double-down on her choices, choices made looking forwards. Every choice Simon made was made looking backwards.

Sorry this was so long-winded. This is just my take on the series and the themes within. I hope whatever your take away was that you had fun the same way I did. Much love.

Before this episode, I saw Simon’s sadness, but now I feel it. We knew they loved each other, and we’d seen some bits of it, but it was mostly just “he cares about her, therefore we care about her as well” and the same way for Betty about Simon. But now… we actually saw how happy they were and what was lost all because of the crown. It was amazing, but so heartbreaking how much they really loved each other.
