Thank you so much! This is what I love about YouTube. I've saved loads of time due to helpful individuals such as yourself. Not to mention loads of money calling on technicians for certain things! Really appreciate you, Biker Mike!

If anyone is wondering how this works....it actually did!
I did exactly what he said to do. Washed the black from the parts and cleaned the filter. Sprayed the inside all down with Lysol and let it sit overnight. Put it back together, turned it back on....
and absolutely ZERO smell!
We were having a horrible sour milk type smell coming from our ACs. It is now COMPLETELY gone!
Thanks Biker Mike!!

I've never cleaned and air-conditioner but I found this video and went ahead and did it, but after doing it I looked online and found so much info saying that spraying lysol in the unit can cause it to catch fire so now I am scared to turn it back on 😮
It said even dried lysol is flammable.

Tried taking unit O had apart and cleaned with liquid mildew remover and coil cleaner. Also, I cleaned out the drain pan. Still had a lingering smell but not as bad. Will try this. Don't want to have to throw a good running unit away. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am going to give this a try. I have a Kenmore brand combination wall air conditioner/heater that is built into a brick wall so I cannot take it out. When I run the air conditioner, it smells like mildew. I hope Lysol spray works. Thank you for this video.

I'll give this a try. I've dealt with this issue quite a bit over the past few years; within a couple months of use, without fail, the smell just becomes unbearable. It's a very recognizable smell, a disgusting, sour smell; like a combination of stinky feet, cigarette butts and old cat piss-- it's mold & mildew. Disgusting. The only solution I've found is to take the whole unit outside, disassemble it, hose down and clean out the entire thing and spray it with bleach, dry it out and re-assemble it again. After that, it smells clean and fresh-- but man is that such an annoying and time-consuming thing to do, especially because I run 4 a/c units in my house. It really baffles me how many millions of these things they sell and there's so little information out there on how to keep this problem from happening, or why that haven't engineered a better way to do this.

I completely took it out of the window and thoroughly cleaned it with a/c coil cleaner, rinsed then with bleach and hosed it off completely dried for 4 days in garage work bench, turned it on smell is just like I was cleaning fish, and let run all day still very fishy smelling. I hope this works

My apartment has a built in unit. I can't even clean it out. It smells like mildew or mold. I legit started feeling sick. I bought another cleaner, but i really hope this is another option if that doesn't work

Thank you so much for this! I have a unit that can't be easily removed so i do not have the option to remove all sorts of parts...in the back especially! Definitely going to give this a try and see if it gets out that Sour Milk smell!
And if I may ask....where are you originally from, Biker Mike? I keep thinking that i detect a bit of an accent mixed in while you are speaking! Thanks again!

From Lysol website: "Lysol does not recommend using Lysol Disinfectant spray on brass, copper or aluminum or painted wood surfaces." Please do not use corrosive products when cleaning the AC evaporator.

Also do u wipe the lysol off after saturating ? I think thats what u said in the vid .or do u let sit overnight and no wipe down .let it run the next day ? No spray it down with water or anything the next day ? Just leave the lysol on there ? Just making sure .thanks

That part of my ac doesn't come off. I can only slide the filter out from a crevice on the side. Ugh. Can't get to the part I need to spray
