Fabric cushions have a zipper, you remove the foam and wash the fabric, take the foam outside and leave on the sun flipping it after a couple of hours. The sun is a great anti bacterial solution, the UV rays kill of all the bacteria related to scent.

The folks always told us... if it stinks it's still dirty. Smells are particles. All particles have a source. This works a lot of times because the smell causing bacteria is being killed. If done incorrectly and the bacteria isn't all killed, the smell will come back.

Thanks to your tip with the vacuum I was able to return a mattress topper without having to buy a HUGE box (everything was clean just used the bag/vacuum tip)

If you live somewhere where it gets very cold, you can put it in a garbage bag outside overnight. Or, if it's small, in the deep freeze. I use this all the time on client's items (I'm a seamstress) if the items are smoky or have a lot of perfume, it goes outside overnight.

Sometimes set them in the bright sunlight.sin burns alot of germs and odors.

Simple you can put that in sunlight .
Why complicating such things too

Take the cushion cover off and wash it. Buy new foam for the cushion.

That is a good idea for a pillow or cushion with no zipper. I would remove it from foam. Launder or dry clean the
Cover. I would replace foam inside or do what you suggested. No brainer!

Don’t use vinegar use febreze, unscented if possible. It works WELL.
