Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) tells Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) that her plan is to publish their Alzheimer's research without telling Catherine Fox. Amelia wasn't there when Derek got all the credit for something that Meredith put 50% effort in. It's not erasing Derek but Meredith is doing his work while he is gone but he's dead so he can't really get credit when he's not there putting the work in. Amelia is so hung up on the past on certain things she can't see to move on.

Derek was more known for The Shepherd Method/ doing impossible surgeries than for Alzheimer’s research. Not sure what Amelia’s point is.

If it was Derrick and Meredith died, he wouldn’t give it an ounce of thought, he’d publish too.

This is just poor writing.

I would have said; "No, we're not burying Derek. People will still study his work to understand how different our approaches are. We all need as much information as we can get, and his work has been great reference all these years & will continue to be even further on.

Researchers, doctors & scholars will want to know where the differences are. And how his work benefited other studies & researches.

Derek wanted to cure Alzheimer's.

My mother's illness.

And now I'm taking over.

He would be happy."

This entire story line annoys me cause I feel like if Meredith just went to Jackson then everything would be fine.

Amelia has always been living buried up into past. That annoys me. Everytime Meredith advances into something she comes up talking about stuff related to Derek or her messy mind. It's like she's never mature enough to process anything. Meredith has overcome tons of suffering throughout the series and she respects herself, of course Amelia doesn't do the same. Amelia is nice sometimes but she's been a pain in the ass most of the time.

Meredith has really started to become more and more like Ellis. Granted I will say she is a better mother

It's so ridiculous though. He cared so much about curing Alzheimer's (because he was terrified his wife was going to get it...) so Amelia thinks it would be good to _stop trying to cure it_ a some kind of twisted memorial? It's insane and completely missing the point of his Alzheimer's research.

Seems like a good metaphor, almost; Amelia herself words it as burying him deeper. Meredith has got over Derek professionally by winning an Avery award, then she got over him romantically (as much as one can when their spouse's life is taken so suddenly and cruelly) by finding love again, last time we saw her she said she only missed him when she was alone with the children and didn't know whom to turn to. Now she's making his research old news. She had Derek and her mother to look up to, and she's doing splendidly.

I think Mer is scared realizing that she might suffer what her mother suffered

Meredith, those glasses -- really? Levi wants them back. Also, I'm half-surprised Amelia didn't say, "I need a meeting" as she walked out.

They need to give Caterina Scorsone more to do on this show. She’s too good just to show up for a few seconds here and there. Plus Amelia is the only character left with any layers.

I think Derek would be more proud of the lives he saved than getting credit for a project.Plus he might be happy for Meredith in that she might be saving lives.

It only feels like erasing him because he's gone. He would've wanted the truth, at any cost. He'd want to cure Alzheimer's, he always did.

I agree with the comment that Mer is starting to become more like her mom, Ellis... more emotionless and controlling.
I loved watching Mer evolve during the early to mid season episodes; she was so intriguing and interesting to watch. Now, she's predictable and sort of calculating. Okay so she's passionate about the Alzheimer's project but not passionate about Nick at all! Those 2 as a couple are just not working out. It's a shame really... he's very passionate about her and her kids.

Please give Amelia more storylines and screentime, she really brings life to Grey's

Amelia was more worried about losing the job and when that didn't help convince Mer, she obviously plays it dirty and brings up "her dead brother" to emotionally guilt Mer into postponing it. Man, there isn't a worse character than Amelia.

All Amelia does is think about herself. Gosh I hate her.

Amelia is so emotional and whines a lot and never sticks to anything
