Dialga, palkia and giratina all represent solid, liquid and gas, that's why their typing is so confusing

Sudowoodo's name is a combination of 'pseudo', meaning fake, and wood, which means it's 'fake wood', like a petrified tree

Since Gyardos is primarily based on Chinese Water Dragons, many have a mystical power to fly.

“first stage starters should not be dual type”

Rowlet: hahaha lol what did you say?

Wasn’t sure if you were aware of this. But Sudowoodo is basically Pseudo Wood. It’s a play in saying fake wood.

Gastly is a Poison type, because it is literally called the "Poison Gas Pokemon", and it uses poisonous gases when attacking. When Gastly evolves, it still keeps the Poison type.

It make sense for Gastly to be ghost/poison because the poison type comes from the fact that 95% of its body is comprised of poisonous gases.

Lucario gets its steel typing from the fact that it and Riolu get their name from "orichalcum", which is a mythical metal from ancient times, said to be one of the building materials for the city of Atlantis. Great video though.

I thought Lugia was a water type at first too, but now I understand why it is a "PSYCHC" type. When it flaps its wings, it causes a disturbance in the air around it, so it decided to live underwater to not disturb humankind and Pokemon-kind.

Palkia’s Water Type makes perfect sense.

You know Dialga is Steel/Dragon. It is because of Pokémon Diamond. Diamonds are supposed to be hard as steel.

And Palkia, being the mascot of Pokémon Pearl, you would most likely find pearls in water. So, there you go Alex.

From Bulbapedia: Gyarados's Flying type may be a reference to koinobori, a carp-shaped windsock traditionally flown to celebrate Children's Day in Japan, formerly called Tango no Sekku (端午の節句). It could also be inspired by the South African cryptid Inkanyamba, a giant, winged eel that causes storms when angry, a trait Gyarados is famous for.

In episode 53, The Purr-fect Hero, we see a flagpole with several wind cones modeled after a Gyarados, Goldeen, and Magikarp. Just like the koinobori, in real life.

Lucario's name is derived from a metal that is why it's steel (also the metal spikes it has)
