Dialga/Steel (solid) Palkia/Water (liquid) Giratina/Ghost (Gas) all forms of matter

Girafarig being part normal doesn’t give it a weakness to fighting, it makes fighting attacks neutral. Instead, it gives it an immunity to ghost, removing a weakness instead.

Girafarig being psychic/normal makes sense though because the front half is a normal looking giraffe, but the back half is... that creepy thing.

Palkia’s water-type which seems to be a parallel to the idea of space being an ocean - sometimes complete with space whales!
Florges is a Fairy-type associated with flowers but it isn’t a Grass-type as it’s simply wearing the flower it had as a Floette. It’s clothing, not part of it’s body.
Pyroar isn’t “on fire”, it has a flame sac. It’s a standard lion but it has flame-based powers. Girafarig is based on a Pushmi-Pullyu so isn’t even really a giraffe anyway. Sawsbuck’s antlers are like tree branches and change to match the climate/season, but it still has the body of a normal animal. For comparison, Gogoat’s whole body is closer to a bush then a goat’s hence it being pure grass.

Is actually a few reasons why palkia is water, firstly it represents one of the three forms of matter which is why dialga is steel and giratina is ghost. Next palkia doesn't represent outer space more in represents the concept of space, as in matter and in the empty space between that matter, water a perfect representation of that because it will take the shape of any space it is put into assuming you have enough to fill that space. It's also a water type because it represents its gem, the pearl, which comes from clams, an aquatic animal. It could also be meant meant to represent how space itself is malleable, it is bent and shifted by the matter around it much like a solid object in water will shift the water around itself, allowing that solid object to sink or float.

Palkia being a water type makes sense as it is based on the liquid state. It also takes inspiration from several mythologies which say that space is an endless ocean.

To be fair, a lion that only breathes fire would be fairly normal compared to a possessed anchor, a floating key ring, and a pink goo monster that is canonically the sexiest thing in the setting.

Normal/Ghost though is probably the most badass type combination in the game. Literally no downside to the added Normal type, just turns one weakness into an immunity.

Normal goes also come with a ghost immunity, so it can't be completely discounted, it only has one weakness and an immunity, so it isn't a terrible secondary typing.

Litleo and Pyroar are normal types because aside for the fact that they’re on fire, they’re just regular lions.
