Cirrus is out with a new version of the SR22, the SR22T, with a TSIO-550-K groundboosted turbo system. AVweb's Paul Bertorelli took a demo flight in the new airplane with Cirrus's Matt Bergwall.

Another excellent and informative video Paul!

That is an awesome plane. Looks so much cooler than the Cessna cockpits. Even though I am just a "hard core" flight simmer, I do love aviation. A pilot's license would complete my vision to conquer air, land and sea ( at least below sea).

We looked up final before the cut and if you listen closely, you'll hear the pilot on final say, "go for it." And that is what Matt is chuckling at. And I take exception to being called exemplary. I am, in fact, a wild-eyed lunatic. --Paul Bertorelli

I flew the SR22 a few years back in La. I LOVED that plane. I haven't flown in a while due to $, but man... when I finally do get back in the saddle... I will be seeking out the nearest one. Maybe an SR22t? haha

Paul: "departing runway 4...."
Traffic: "Short final runway 4"
Paul: keeps talking....
Neither person looks toward approaching traffic.
Paul's usually a more exemplary safety-conscious pilot.

tells you when to pull on the stick to take off (in pilot terms, rotate). those are pretty rare though.

Good video. Would like to see a brief overview of the avionics screens. When you were departing, I heard two loud beeps. Is this to indicate you have reached takeoff speed?

@DROLL30 no joke its supplemental oxygen wich according to the FAR/AIM is mandatory above FL150, i believe they said they were at FL170 when they had the white things on theyr faces which is supplemental oxygen, hope that helps.

I honestly have no clue! I can't even think of a reason why it would display that. Unless it was some test plane where they knew that those gauges are inop

That guy is an adult version of McLovin.

Yes cool video. Matt smiles on takeoff because Paul forgot the fuel pump... And he thinks that he is 'smoothly going to die'. :-)

Jokes aside I don't understand why Cirrus came out with something that doesn't fly any faster and runs hotter and burns more gas than the Turbo Alley TN.

Those "Plastic Mustaches" are actually oxygen cannulas, as they said they were at 17, 500 FT AGL which is above the FAA Mandatory Altitude limit (12, 000 FT) for oxygen. If they didn't wear those then they would have suffered something called hypoxia. Hypoxia is a pathological condition in which the body as a whole or a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply. After the suffered from hypoxia then they would slowly pass out. Hope this is helpful!

Most likely they were "cut" scenes... whereas video is shot before or after the story and later added to fill the vid.
