This is fair, Aang has extreme raw power, but that’s all he has. He’s not the best bender of all time in a single element, but learns the element extremely fast.

Fax. If aang only uses air then katara wins. Aang is strong but I think water is just a better element. She can plant bend or blood bend or whatever. Katara is probably able to beat aang if he only uses one element without avatar state. I think Katara is almost as strong as aang with all elements but no boosts. (Avatar state, sozin comet, full moon) and if Katara has full moon she is equal to aang no boosts

Potential goes to Aang since he's an Avatar. Even if he could use only airbending his skill would grow very quickly. We noticed that In the episodes where Katara stole a book with tips for different movements Aang could easily master each of them right away.

This is a curious matchup. Perspective feels key. I cannot imagine a situation where Aang needs to defeat Katara with airbending and him being able to do it and neither can I imagine a situation where Katara needs to defeat Aang and she is able to catch him.

If they both needed to fight each other, this feels accurate. Katara would be advantaged, but Aang is the type of opponent who wouldn't so much defeat her, but find a way to disarm Katara.
