Who agrees that this was one of the spookiest scenes in Avatar ever??

The fact that Hama won in the end is so chilling. All she wanted was to pass the knowledge of the bending that she discovered. Her legacy.

Hama : It took me years to develop this technique
Katara : Hold my mother's necklace

She can control Sokka’s arm, but not his mouth. His will to speak is too powerful!

To think about it, it's kinda ironic that waterbending can be the most peaceful bending and can also be the most cursed bending of all.

Yue: Sacrifies her life to save the moon spirit and becomes the moon
Hama: Uses the moon to bloodbend
Yue: Am I a joke to you?!?

Those who don’t understand Hama’s reaction at 3:47. Waterbenders typically redirect, dodge, or create shields as their tactic, Hama was shocked because Waterbenders don’t typically blast away water like what Katara did, any other water bender would’ve just redirected it somewhere else or side stepped, but Katara actually stood her ground much like an earth bender

Katara doing an earth bending move to deflect that water is beyond amazing.

1:54 “they tried to wipe us out, our entire culture” there’s something about that line that sounds so heart wrenching

She literally learned it in like 5 minutes after it was done to her. Ever since she met Pakku she was able to improve rapidly and pick up different skills like it’s nothing. Imagine if she actually practiced it like Amon or Hakone did. She would get it real quick and would probably be even more unstoppable than she is now😌

5:15 The darkest scene in ATLA in my opinion. There's just something so dark about an older person manipulating a child/teen into doing their dirty work.

When you compare Katara in this scene to Katara from Book 1 it's amazing to see how much stronger she's become as a water bender.. but her kindness and compassion never changed.

I like how she referred to the other water benders as brothers and sisters! Shows how much she cared about her tribe.

“I’m sorry, Aang!”
“It’s okay!”

That was so adorable 😭

Imagine if Katara used bloodbending against Azula in the finale, their fight would have been cut short. She's _that_ powerful.

You can tell it’s a good storywriting and directing when the antagonist of the episode was not meant to be hated by the audience. We knew what hama did was bad, but it was understandable, she was in pain for numerous years, lost her family and friends in the war by a known enemy. An enemy that wiped out her entire identity and culture. Say, if I was in hama’s shoes, considering my personality and the society nowadays, I would act the same way as she did. A great series will not only entertain its audience to the core, but is also able to sprinkle/if not dump such moral values that the society can learn, how unnecessary wars take responsibility in shaping the later society and generations. If that’s not enough, the morals that can be learned from this series are still relevant even after 12 years. Thank you ATLA, I still learn such high values by watching my childhood favourite cartoon.

My favorite part about this fight is that Katara has to use _everything_ Hama taught her. Even though she clearly doesn’t like these methods, she bends the water out of the flowers. And when she sees Hama reduce the trees to nothing, she’s eventually forced to do the same. Even when she bloodbends, she’s doing the same hand motions Hama did to bring her to her knees.

In order to win, she had to learn to fight like Hama. And that’s why she lost

When you think about it, water is possibly the deadliest element to bend.
