So, as a new DF player, I'm scared of the water mechanics and wells. I don't understand stairs and haven't dug down (I've only dug into a hill/ mountain side, like you did in this video) any chance you might do some tutorial videos for us new players on: "stairs" and "water works"? So in other words, DF is really easy to play if you know what to do already. If new just read a few days straight without pause and know all the hotkeys and symbols before even playing.
It's funny to see how different people try to make it approachable, but the core problem is the game('s UI) itself. Edit: Added a meme picture from the net...

Even better if we change game data before knowing scrap about the game. It's not that hard once someone got a good feel for the game, yet for new players its adding insult to injury I feel. ->

Why wouldn't you just have people download the lazy newb pack. With that you don't have to rummage around in ini files.
