I tried to follow this but when I was setting up my military an undead dragon came and burned everything to ash.

Lol I'm a new DF player, just killed my first fort and decided to watch some tutorials before starting my second. I found this and, well, I just wasted an entire day sitting here. I found answers to questions I didn't even know to ask. Like how to build a mist generator. I didn't even know dwarves liked mist. Truth be told, this video scared the crap out of me a bit. I thought I understood how complicated this game was from the talk I heard before buying it. But I truly had no idea. There are apparently game mechanics on top of game mechanics on top of game mechanics all the way down. How does anyone ever complete half of this before something comes along and kills everyone. Because from my short experience, it seems there is ALWAYS something trying to kill everyone. Including me, who killed every one myself by not making a water supply, thinking the river would be all I needed. But it froze over and 6 children died since they can't drink booz. And loosing so many kids made the hole fort go off the deep end and I could never bring it back.

Incredible video! The amount of time you must have put into this video definitely deserves support and recognition. It is a quality guide that has helped me on many aspects of Dwarf Fortress and serves as a solid guide to any other newcomer to Dwarf Fortress. Well structured, simple to follow, gets right to the point and it has timestamps. Thank you, and keep up the great content!

You have no idea how much this tutorial will help me sir. I’ve just bought DF on steam, because I have fond memories of it, and the last time I’ve played it was years ago (I believe inns were just added 😅).

I wanna have a go at it again, but the complexity is very, VERY intimidating for me lol, so having a video like this (with timestamps even!) will help me figure out any issues or doubts I may have!

Thank you again! Rock and Stone, and Strike the Earth! ⛏️

I will absorb the knowledge as I sleep. I have been playing for years and have 100s of hours. I still learn something new everytime I watch a tutorial.

I've been having trouble sleeping this last couple of weeks
So every night I would open the Dwarf Fortress playlist and listen to your tutorials until I feel asleep
Tonight yet again I was going to repeat this habit until I saw the video and decided to use this instead; and let me tell you I felt SOOOO called out in the intro cause yeah, that's me, I'm the one who uses these as Sleeping aid LMAO

Thanks for the video man, its greatly appreciated (and that's coming from someone who both wants to get into the game and who also uses these to cure the insomnia thanks to the relaxing narration)

This game seems to be so relaxing. I love these very complex games. As a Rimworld player with 3k+ hours of playtime, I couldn't imagine how DF is way more complicated to compreehend.

Great series. Some topics I'd love to see: fortress layout tips for minimising relationship-checks, dealing with unmet needs such as "unable to acquire something" when you don't know what it is, how and where to display artifacts, best and worst personality traits for the most important jobs, ways to speed delivery of trade goods to the depot, which jobs should be specialised, good kitchen layouts, poultry industry (specifically how to stop it from being fortress-range), attribute training. Off the top of my head.

Watched from beginning to end. Information dense and quite useful. I now feel like I'm 20% prepared to have a long lived fortress.

Thank you for putting them all in one place. I had problems understanding the game when it came out and put on the back shelf. Now I have one place from start from. Thanks!!

As someone who has played this game off and on for a long time, this is exactly the resource I needed for coming back to the game again. Thank you for your excellent videos!
