(Realised I kept pronouncing the winning female’s name wrong but it’s Kebede!)

4th fastest time by a Brit this year. I hope you are proud of yourself, well done.

Insane how you managed to go sub 2:15 with heat exhaustion. Amazing Jake, just think what you're capable of.

Electrolytes! As a maurten lover, it’s important to know the gels contain 0 electrolytes. The drink mix has 200mg sodium if you drink the whole thing, but if you toss the bottles unfinished you get less. And you’re getting 0 potassium and magnesium. I trust you to google it and figure out what’s best for you but make sure you’re dialing in the electrolytes for hot marathons especially.

Congrats. Great race.

Unreal 👏 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… 2025 is your year! Cooler temps will do the trick!! Honestly, that’s a stellar run and a PB to walk away with 🤝

Your family being there and cheering you around the course gave me goosebumps. I lived in Japan for a few years in the mid 2000's but back then my fam wasn't able to make it over and see it all. You've been "out there" in Japan alone with no family working hard for your dreams, and then in a big moment they're right there with you. Damn I'm tearing up. Well done, Jake. The fact that you ran a massive PR in the heat (20 in the sun is brutal) with no heat acclimation is remarkable. You will smash this time in better conditions in the future for sure!!!

the fact that your community has made it’s way to japan to even join you on your runs is remarkable. Keep up the good work man

Unbelievable effort. Enjoy the holiday, and buy yourself a beer. Like you say, the fact that a 3min PB feels like a disappointment tells you you have got so much more in you!

the Chinese runner you were following in the 2nd half of the race is Wu Xiangdong and arguably the biggest marathon influencer in China, perhaps one day a collab? Would be fantastic.

Stayed up in the UK to track you last Sunday, any day you run a PB is a good day, to think you've got even more in the tank when the weather's kinder to you. Only found your channel a few weeks ago but have binged watched all your videos, love you content, love you journey! I'm running my first marathon in London in 7 weeks, I'm definitely inspired by your mental resilience and training approach!

Great race report! Like the addition of the fam cam 😁Congrats on the PB even though you feel like it was a bad race. Good to see so many people came to the shake out run, but I'm not that surprised actually 😉
