False Mormon Prophecies [Mormonism Live 192]

From its inception, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has claimed to have prophets. But when those prophets have predicted the future, the results have been mixed, to say the least. The prophecies that did not come to pass are not talked about by the LDS Church. But we will talk about them tonight at Mormonism Live. Featuring Master Peace as our special guest.

This episode was so good I listened to it live and recorded! Such a meaty podcast. I can't wait to watch the patriarchal blessings episode! I'm intrigued. Longing to hear from Joseph Sn!

Some of these prophesies were taught in my home in the 1960s with questions and discussions. This episode is why I watch! My children have no idea of the concepts queried by their grandparents. I wish my folks could have found more of the clarification they wanted it.

It's faith baiting followers with "being the choice generation" to encourage loyalty. Excellent episode. So true about food storage. My dad wasted so much time and money on food storage and he passed and never saw the apocalypse he was preparing for. one day some people will eventually reap the rewards of all the damn wheat they save, and that is enough for the gullible to keep doing it.

1:34:18 “worse than that” now let’s replace “it came to pass” with “it’s worse than that”

It's too bad that Parley P. Pratt was unable to prophesy what would happen to him in Arkansas as a result of "marrying" the already married Eleanor McLean. If he had gotten himself a good prophecy on that matter, he may have remained among the living long enough to celebrate his birthday in 1858. And who knows? Maybe the Mountain Meadows Massacre would have been averted in that prophecy-blessed timeline.

I’m so relieved (Literally) that these men are not prophets. I can quit worrying about their bogus predictions and try and enjoy life. Jeezus these men are so suffocating!

"Nobody ever claimed that the prophets are infallible". Isn't this the line we get from apologists whenever it becomes clear that the LDS prophets have been nothing but fallible, the only things they ever get right being the kind of common sense stuff that pretty much anyone could get right? "You know...wider streets may work better than narrow streets when it comes to making u-turns."

I loved hearing about these hidden gems!

I hope Master Peace can come back to get into patriarchal blessing shenanigans.

17:40 Correction/Clarification: The Emancipation Proclamation (EP) was a war measure that only applied to states in the Confederacy, making slavery more protected in the Union/north than the Confederacy! Remember, the war didn't officially end slavery. The US Constitution permitted slavery throughout the war. Slavery was officially banned about half year AFTER the war when the 13th Amendment was ratified. Basically, Utah wasn't affected.
