Voting opposed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is scary at the best of times, and while a Stake Conference of 300 is bad, it’s nothing compared to #GeneralConference in front of 10s of thousands. Thanks to @mormonstories for sharing Brian Pew’s courageous act!

Any member can oppose another in any member in any position in the church. After the vote they are interviewed to find out why the opposing vote. This does not mean the person called to that position is going to change. It all depends on the reason why the opposing vote.

And after opposing, President Oaks explained and invited those opposed to meet and discuss their opposal with their stake president. Have you done this?

It's not a vote. It's a sign of sustaining the leader. You're free to say you won't sustain him, help him, support him, etc. But if you don't, then why are you even there?

As a member of the church, I can confirm 90% of the we have no idea who the people are but just raise our hand without second thought

If we always say negative to other people then we let evil rule over us. If we kept on criticizing other people we hardened our hearts, and we allow Satan to have power in our lives.

Which one will we choose, allow Jesus Christ to rule over us or Satan?".

Opposed people are never ignored. They always have a right to speak to the leaders and tell what happened. But only members can.

Everyone is allowed to be opposed and have that choice. When I see a guy with a camera pointed at him in general conference, then it’s shared/published it just screams “attention, look at me” and overshadows their real concerns if any.
You can oppose in church and it’s just as real as if the camera wasn’t there in my opinion.

Part of the work of sustaining the prophet of the Lord is putting in personal effort to learn about him and seek the Lord’s confirmation. As a longtime member of this church, I have watched President Nelson take on the loving role of an apostle and follow our Savior’s example, serving in the His way. And I have prayed to know for myself that he was chosen to lead God’s church. I hope everyone will see this comment and better understand.

This is a good thing. Someone may know something about an individual that could affect their standing in the church. But usually, it's just someone who has political or doctrinal issues.
