18 Things Your Cat Wants You to Know

In this video, we will talk about 18 things your cat wishes you knew.

I don’t like to be picked up
Sometimes you may just want to give your pet a big hug and cuddle. Because that’s what they’re there for, right? Well, not all the time! Often times, we hug and cuddle with our cats because we want to, not because it seems like something they want to do. It’s best to give your cat a little space and let them initiate interactions with you.

Just Because I’m Purring Doesn’t Mean I’m Happy
Cats often purr when they are happy. However, they may also purr when they are stressed, frightened, are feeling unwell or in pain. They use this self-soothing technique to provide comfort to themselves. Studies have shown that the low frequency of a cat purring causes a series of vibrations inside their body that can relieve pains, heal injuries, and repair tendons.
A cat who purrs out of discomfort, rather than contentment, often shows negative body language signs such as laying their ears flat, putting their head down, or hiding.

I don’t show pain
Cats are excellent at hiding their pain. In the wild, a cat in pain is seen as weak, making them easy targets for predators. In order to survive, cats have adapted a deep natural instinct to hide their pain. Your cat will not cry out in pain, for fear that they will attract the attention of a predator. As loving pet owners, it is up to us to recognize subtle signs of illness and give them the help they need.

I need to patrol my territory
If you have an outdoor cat, you may have wondered why your cat wants to go out, and then a minute later is standing in front of the door and suddenly wants to come back in. Are our feline companions really that indecisive? No. This behavior actually has something to do with their territorial nature. Cats like to patrol their territory and regularly check whether everything is still in order and no intruders are hanging around in their area.
In the world of cats, there are simply no doors that constantly block the way and stake out their own territory.
And this is why many cats don’t like closed doors. If you have ever closed a door behind your cat, you probably know that a closed room is something that cats hate. Cats believe they actually own your house and they get confused when part of their territory is closed off to them.

When I slowly blink at you, it means I trust you
If you notice your cat stares at you and they slowly close and open their eyes, they are trying to tell you that they trust you and care about you. Cats only exhibit this behavior around people and felines they are bonded with. Remember, for cats, closing their eyes in the presence of another human is a huge sign of trust.

They may be your friends, but I don’t want to hang out with them
Cats do not like strangers or surprise visits. They like to feel they are in control of the territory around them. Strangers bring a lot of new smells and signs that they have yet to explore.
Cats usually hide when an unknown person or animal visits them.

My litter box is my special place
The litter box is a very particular place for a cat.
It requires daily cleaning. You should also aim to replace the litter and wash the box at least once per week.
Don’t use toxic or scented cleaners, and establish continuity by keeping the litter box in one established location. The litter box should be located in an accessible but private place, and be big enough for your cat to fit into comfortably. In multiple cat households, you should have a litter box for each cat, plus an extra one to avoid competition and bullying.

Don’t Punish Me for Things I Can’t Help
Sometimes cats will urinate outside the litter box and on your favorite couch or rug. This doesn’t mean they’re upset with you. More often, this happens when they’re suffering from a health issue like a urinary tract infection, or when their litter box isn’t clean enough.
Litter box avoidance can also be stress-related. Stress can come from changes in your household: moving, the birth of a child, the addition of another pet, or even shouting at them or arguing in front of them.

I need entertainment
Cats are intelligent animals, and like any other intelligent animal, they require a certain level of stimulation to feel happy and engaged.

A cat tree, cat perch, open paper bags, and fun toys create entertainment and can make a difference to a cat who spends the day alone.
If your feline friend is food motivated, then treat based puzzles can be a fun.
Television can also make for great entertainment.
Cats often like videos that show animals like birds and mice running around or fish swimming.

I got my cat when he was 5 weeks old.
I just love him so much.
I do everything I can to name him comfortable and to show him how much I love him.

I do not know what I would do if anything ever happened to him.
I was blessed whinge was given to me after I lost my husband to cancer.
He did not take my husbands place but filled
my life of depression and crying with some happiness .

Oh mine hates bein picked up. He won’t ever sit down and “cuddle” unless it’s bedtime and he hops up on the bed in the middle of the night and lays on my legs so I can’t move. That’s as close as it gets to “cuddling” with him. Idk maybe it’s cuz we’re both “bros”…. And he hates being brushed, he drags his ass and tries to get away every time. He’s a super loner, he hates being found in his hiding places he’ll just move to the other side under the table or go find a different one. If I pick him up he’ll whine and if I try to sit down with him still in my arms he’ll climb up on my head and jump up to the top of the couch and dart away. And he’s a big dude, he’s like 15 lbs. he’s half Maine coon half Tabby. Or tappy whatever you call it. He just looks like a rly big tabby.

With my family the 1st 3 cats that we had were both indoor and outdoor cats. 2 of the cats did wonder around the area. One cat just stayed close to his home. This one cat that I had a very special bond with a little bit over 12 years. He did always climbed up towards me for cuddling while I was watching TV with my parents. I was only one to give him belly rubs and kisses on my belly. He did stayed over a hour or 2. My parents were jealous of me with him. My father used to played with him with his pen. My father said that he did hated him. I did knew that my father liked him. My mother liked him, too for being a big sweetie. The 1st cat was a buddy towards me. He did cuddled with me a little bit, too. The 3rd cat that I did played with before my parents gotten a dog. I didn’t even hurt the cat at any way. He did cried liked he was in pain and got easily so pissed off. He did come back for being a sweetie and than backed in playing with him. The 3rd cat came from abusive background before my parents decided to adopted him into our home. The first 2 were very used to him being around the house. I did had 2 more cats that I helped to raised them from kittens to young adult cats with my sister in 1994-1997. My sister got them from 2 different pet stores. They weren’t siblings at all. One was a beautiful tuxedo Manx cat and the other one was a domestic red tabby cat. They both got along when they were kittens. They both slept next to each other. I heard or read somewhere that Manx cats don’t get along with another breed of cats.

She wants me to know that every time is food time, if shes infront of the bowl glaring at it, then staring at me, she ain't asking. My Cat is 19 yo and all she does is
-eating
-sleeping
-demanding food
-try to steal our food
-being outside thinking about having food

I agree that shitting is not usually a protest. But I knew two cats in Syros that did this. I was in Syros looking after a friend's house and cats while she went on an extended holiday to Australia. As soon as she had left her cat Andromeda went and did a shit on the duvet on my friends bed. Later on she did another shit on the place where strange cats were sleeping. I was once away for a long time and when I returned, my cat Harriet was delighted to see me but when we settled down to sleep, she stood up and quite deliberately did a shit in the duvet. In all cases the cats were healthy and normally extremely clean but they wanted to register annoyance and did so rather effectively.

1. False. My cat Milo will chase us if we don't pick him up fast enough.
4. Keep your cat indoors. Milo was an outdoor cat, and when we rescued him, he missed it. But it doesn't matter. It only shortens their lives.
