Four thousand years ago, Cats were deities worthy of worship. Cats have never forgotten this.

My brother brought home a blind kitten, I fed him, dad taught him how to poo, and he lived to be about 17-19, my brain is fuzzy, he died at my feet. I've never known such loyalty in ANY other creature. LEO R.I.P. Buddy =)

Years ago, when I first started having bad depression, I went to visit a therapist. I drove over there but arrived early so parked in a nearby car park to wait and, because it was a hot day, I had both the driver and passenger doors open. After a while a cat jumped into my passenger seat, had a bit of an explore in the back, then sat in my lap. It was like he knew why I was there. When it was time for my appointment I didn't want to turf him out where there were dangerous cars about so I started the engine and drove very slowly, with him still purring in my lap, to the edge of the car park where it was safer to let him go. All these years later I have never forgotten him and I truly believe he was sent to keep me company and let me know I was loved.

Here's an extremely helpful suggestion that I have learned living with cats for 38 years. Leave their carrier out and about with the door open as opposed to storing it in a closet somewhere and only taking it out when you're taking them somewhere. One of my I have two cats and one of their carriers is on the couch and one is on the bed and they go in and out of them whenever they want and sleep in them. This way the carriers are not as scary thing but rather something that's comforting and they don't feel out of control. It smells like them and all of that. Hope that helps

All the cats I've had a were afraid of water, except one he was polydactyl and surprised me one day I was out on a small lake on a float, I left him on the shore chasing after bullfrogs. I turned to see where he was and couldn't find him then I noticed something in the water, it was him swimming out to get me. I paddled closer to him and lifted him onto my float. After that I couldn't keep him out of water, and I was using a cheap plastic float, so I bought him his own float that was canvas covered (a little tougher for his claws). And whenever I would go out on the water his float was attached to mine. He was super intelligent too. He was so awesome to have around!!! I called him Bigfoot : ) Thanks for the video.
Edited to say he was actually a kitten when this started.

Yesterday a nurse was telling me her cat wanted a lot of attention and hated when she wore her glasses. The cat knew that she was going to read and hated be ignored. Over the course of time the cat stole her glasses and hid them under her sofa, where she found all the mislaid glasses.

My oldest cat LOVES strangers and will greet them at the door. She once followed a repairman down into the basement and watched him work, he talked to her and my cat will look at a person’s face when they talk, tries to understand. So she ‘hung’ with him, sniffed each tool and the only thing I could say about her is she is so bored with us, she sees new people as ‘fresh meat’.

As an autistic person, I have an affinity with cats because they need their autonomy just like me. The whole needing to be in control thing is paramount for me too.

You know their hearing is great when they can hear a can being opened or a treat Box being shaken from rooms away.

I had a cat back in Canada that loved car rides, she heard the jingle of keys she would run out the door and wait by the van, I used to take her in my semi as well, packed a litter tray and food, etc, and she would go with me for 5-6 days, either sleeping, sitting on my shoulder or laying across the dash watching the world go by..

My female Snowshoe, Phoebe, loved going on walks with her harness, and she really loved seeing neighbors and meeting strangers around our apartment complex. More people knew her name than mine. I was "Phoebe's Mom". She also loved trips in the car. People at my bank, drugstore, and fav fast food joints all knew her from the drive-thru. She liked many "human" foods like spaghetti with sauce, and was always game for sharing a Rice Krispies Treat or some banana pudding. Oh, how I miss you girl! 💕

The bit on dirty litter boxes brought back a memory of my first cat; I was still learning.. One night I decided, I'm tired, I'm going to bed; clean out her litter box first thing tomorrow morning. Next morning I wake up from her jumping on my bed, sitting on top of the duvet, staring directly at me. Few seconds later I realized she was peeing on me/ the duvet!! Never got out of bed quicker- hauled the duvet into the bathroom- cleaned out her litter box.. She taught me a lesson alright.. I still miss you Nirai.. You were one special little lady. ❤

I've owned two cats (at different times), and I got them both as kittens.
Back then, flea treatments weren't available for kittens, and both of mine had fleas.
My way of trying to deal with the fleas was to give them a bath most days, while brushing through their fur with a nit comb to pick out the fleas.
I took care not to wet their heads too much so water didn't get in their ears.
Because I had the water nice and warm, added to a lot of rubbing and attention to dry them afterwards, having a bath became an enjoyable event for them...
...to the point that they purr with the warm water showering over them!!!

Sadly, both my cats have died, but as sad as that is, they both had wonderful lives full of love and attention!

My parents had a cat that lived to be 18 yrs old. I have had 3 cats that lived to be 18 x2 and 19 yrs old. When my Fred died on the way to our vet's, my vet hugged me saying he didn't get to treat very many 18 yr old cats. Candi is 19 and still going strong. Being loved by a cat is sweet. No new fur balls until Candi decides to give up living. But we will always have room for more.
My secret for long life for my kitty friends, keep their litter box clean, food area and dishes clean, love them on their terms and, as they get old (10+yrs), don't stress them. After they reach age 12, I only take them to vet's if they get injured or not feeling well.

I think that, most of all, cats want to feel safe. They know they’re fairly small creatures, and thus a bit vulnerable.

We adopted a 2 yo old (or so) cat who had lived in the street most of her life, we presume. Teaching her to walk with a harness took me...one day. She loves it. She gets herself inside her carrier to show me she wants her daily stroll.

Loved the video! I’ve had cats and dogs all my life…our last “child” found us Father’s Day 2021. If you were in the southern USA on that particular Father’s Day, you will remember it was unusual cool and rainy. “Biscuit”, our female tortie, was heard meowing outside the front of the house…we investigated and I brought her in and begged the wife to keep her. She is a thriving bundle of joy now.
