The worst part is that often these disagreements aren't even on actual policy or things you want to do, but on how you feel, emotionally, about a certain subject. There's a subset of leftists that just can't see themselves side to side with anyone who doesn't feel EXACTLY the same emotions as them when they think of this or that subject, and think that there's something wrong with you if your emotional reactions aren't the exact same as theirs.

In 2020, I worked in a hospital, ya know, during COVID! I worked with some cops in the hospital and I respected them - in 2020, I had people get so deep inside my head about how I was worse than evil because I didn’t hate those cops

I also am the guy who will converse with a bigot and, if they seem kind enough to listen, I’ll try to “plant a seed” to help them learn and grow

I have been called an “apologist” and told “you’re just as evil as they are! If they wanna change, make them do it on their own! They can do their research! Do not welcome them into our ranks if they won’t do all the work on their own!”

There's one thing that some lefties / progressives need to understand. There are plenty of people not as progressive as you, but they're making a good faith effort to do the right thing. THAT is the important thing.

This is actually so true. The right will accept anyone right-wing no matter how flawed the person is while the left are so overly critical they won't hesitate to throw one of their own out. There should be balance. Don't be so overly critical but also don't overlook people's obvious wrongs

The longer I've been left wing, the more I've realized that a variety of opinions on certain issues is actually healthy for your political diet. If I disagree with someone about how an issue should be handled, regardless of whether they're left-wing or right-wing, we can have a conversation about it, and maybe I'll learn something. The only times I'm NOT interested in hearing someone out is when they're attacking someone's basic human rights.

Okay but this is so true it's why we can't get shit done. Imperfection isn't allowed and people are convinced they have to tackle every single of the worlds evils at once.

Meanwhile the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who pick one thing to do something about and care about that really really hard, while being willing to work with other people with different areas of expertise.
