Essentially, we think of only one thing at a time. That can be broken down to sex, food, fun, tired, occasionally angry, confused and then repeat.

PS... if a woman flips out because you may happen to look at a beautiful woman, she’s demonstrating her insecurities and it will only get worse. Dump her!

First, men do look, but it should be done appropriately. If we're not looking (women as well) then check to see if we have a pulse. But please keep in mind that at this age, we should be choosing to be with who we want.. it shouldn't be to take care of a need we have.
And also, yes - your guest is spot on about men faking it.

I look at other men and it has nothing to do with me wanting them it has to do with something about that person catches my attention. It's not out of revenge (I have never met a man that doesn't look). I'm no different just because I'm a woman that I can't appreciate a nice smile, an intelligent comment, charisma, nice hair, stature, confidence. No hidden agenda involved when I look. Just appreciating characteristics in a person both men and women that I like.

I’m the same. I can think of nothing when I’m at a beach looking at the ocean. Very relaxing.

Being a woman, I agree with Silke that we can’t understand how the male is able to think of nothing. It’s amazing that any man/woman couple can get along anymore lol. I wish that we could learn the male’s trick to think of nothing. I would love to shut my mind off sometimes. It’s exhausting to not be able to, gentlemen. If you can’t figure out why your lady gets mentally drained at times, realize that it’s her brain’s fault. 🙂

As someone who scores on a Asperger test, I can be solely consciously focused on the task at hand. When we are thinking of nothing, we are in lizard brain mode. Where we are pattern matching our environment for potential threats. It happens subconsciously, it is the white-noise. If we are focused on a conscious thought it dampens our general threat detection mode. The looking at others is built into our lizard brain mode.

Think of driving, most can't recall vivid detail from long sections of the journey. There is too much info to process, we recognize, threat assess, discard. Same for looking at others.

I love the story of the man and the woman who are naked together in the bed for the first time. The man is silent, the woman thinks “I wonder if he thinks my thighs are too fat.” The man is thinking “It is so wonderful to be in bed with this woman. I am so happy”.

News flash, I’m a woman who can turn off the brain and think of nothing, too. So I get it!! 😊 I once had a boyfriend who asked me that same question and was stunned that I could “turn off” my brain and put it in resting mode. He couldn’t do it and, consequently, frequently had trouble getting to sleep. I can usually get to sleep easily.

I am thinking all the time. Clear organized or organizing thoughts that I share readily. I cannot imagine having radio static.

Exactly. I can "Empty" my mind or worries and of any insecurities - it's relaxing. And when I'm not, I'm thinking of stuff like this: I own 2 pickup trucks I like (and have an emotional attachment to both), but not realistic to have more than 1...which one do I keep? Or, one of 2 my bikes isn't running right, so I'm trying to diagnose it mentally. And as far as looking at the natural beauty around us...aren't we encouraged to do this?

I love to people watch and share my observations with others that are with me...including if I think a woman is beautiful. I want to be able to do that with any woman I am dating.

The reason why men look at other women is the same reason that women look at other men we are sexually attracted to each other. The concept of this is really stupefying because it's so simple, the only mistake we make is believing that women don't look at other men for the same reason-we do this for the exact same reason, this is not brain surgery here guys!

I’m a master of thinking of nothing, I’m 56 some people can’t believe it, they say you mid 30’s to 40, I think it’s due to my ability to not think . I do stay in shape single so I have plenty of time to take care of me and think of nothing

I do that too when I'm driving or walking around the mall. Filtering out every detail around me and just concentrating on what's essential at that moment. Not even seeing people I know. But sometimes my brain goes off on a tangent and then it's hard to stop thinking about every little aspect of whatever. Writing stuff down helps to clear the mind and relax. Interesting.

I never ask men what they are thinking, in fact, it's usually the opposite. I'm usually always the quiet one off in my own world. I agree, it's rude to stare, ...we're more evolved than that.

As a 64 year old guy..this topic is interesting, but doesn't make a lot of sense...I've given this "being single" a lot of thought, really....I've asked myself WHY do I really need a girlfriend/partner? I was married for over 20 years....my kids are grown....it's been done..
What are the reasons? Is it because, are we afraid of dying alone? Is it sex? SEX seems to be the BIG deal.... is it to have companionship?, or a combination of all three?...it's I feel that if you have a PASSION for doing things...a focus that gives yourself satisfaction and affirms who you are, and makes you WANT to keep will never be alone....I have an awesome profession....and I have a couple of hobbies that are a challenge and immensely enjoyable....I am physically in awesome shape...I think a big part of this is that most people just "float around" without any direction in their is THE real problem....

The issue is, as ever, women make men 'wrong' for not sharing what we think. Grow up ladies.
