Well, if you're dating in your 50s, you know that it can be so much more complicated than that idyllic scene of your younger years. You might be reemerging on the dating scene following a long hiatus, perhaps after being divorced or widowed—only to find that the rules (and technology) of the game have changed.

I'm still recovering from my financial loss. Fortunately I have NO children and never married. I will be 61 years old this July. Praise The Most High I got another chance at living the rest of my life happy, healthy and free.

I met my soon-to-be-husband when I was 59 years younger. Even though he was 49, he did not care. Our wedding is scheduled for April 27, honoring our first date. My message to all single women is that regardless of your age, you must take care of yourself. Look always presentable, happy, and confident. Good lord, the amount of men i have met, on line dating, and otherwise, that are either living with their mothers, living in crappy basement apartments, jobless, homeless, ugh. At this age (50’s) men should be financially and emotionally stable! If someone isn’t an equal, financially, i stop talking to them. I already have two children to tend to!!!!

This woman has a ton of good advice and is not wrong on ANYTHING she says. I’ve studied and failed at relationships for 35 years- I’ve had 3 marriages with narcs over the last 20. It’s been hard, slow and frustrating to say the least on learning but I’m not giving up and I know now with this last one (covert narc) why I fall for them and to work on those things about me.

I didn’t realize it was me the entire time that didn’t do the right things with these men. They target certain women. Protect yourself - be patient and keep loving you.

I am sending this to my daughters, they both have dating men that had less then them. They both have car’s, the men don’t, they both have their own place, the men don’t. Amen. Miss Faye you are absolutely telling the truth. I was 44 years old when my husband died; a fairly young widow. I was emotionally starved and met someone online who took advantage of that. I lost a lot of money…thousands of dollars, with these sad stories he was giving me. I was ashamed and humiliated. But LESSON LEARNED! To this day I will not give a man my money. I don’t care how sad his story is.

I am a young looking 56 year old and most men are younger; but I have not given in yet. I have values and godly fear. Many men have walked away because I will not give up the cookies. I do miss companionship, and just sharing and talking to someone; not enough to make a stupid decision though. I just love the last thing you said retain your power; yes ma’am. I love my independence. I think what I’m looking for is a good friendship with no benefits lol. I don’t know if I’ll ever find it.

I’ve been there sis, I’m 60+ and have always been able to walk away from situations only because I never gave up my foundation and security when I surrendered myself totally to one man. I thank god for growing up in a house with six brothers and a step father. I saw a lot.
