You can listen to many more "good" sermons at the Church of Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. (just google it, as Youtube does not allow links in the comment section.

Like an adulterous wife, the western church preaches the gospel of hedonism, the doctrine that pleasure and happiness are the highest good. This is a gospel that says in effect, "Get saved and God will bless you, then He will give everything you have always wanted." Converts to this gospel make God a fine add-on to their hedonistic lifestyle; He becomes nothing more than an errand-boy they have added to their entourage of servants...

@m4r4t75 You're misunderstanding the gospel of hedonism. Hedonism does not teach that pleasure and happiness are the most high good. It teaches that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him, a concept that takes a whole book to explain. The main point, however, is that God offers us infinite joy and happiness IN him, not BY him. Your making a mistake by claiming that hedonism is some form of a prosperity gospel when it is far from it. Those who are hedonists still are satisfied and praise God in their suffering, but someone who believes in a prosperity gospel would collapse in tribulation and suffering. Your claim of hedonism as being a doctrine of pleasure and happiness as the highest good is far off. Please look more into hedonism.

I will have to agree with these guys, and the lust of materialism that has crept into the church. Paul gave many warnings of false teachers that would come with teachings of wealth, and deceive many to follow after them. I even went to a large charismatic church and they said a pledge or creed how all those that read the Bible, and read God's word, would be granted by God the best paying jobs within their companies, and that they would all have the top jobs. My wife and I had to walk out.

Fast forward to 6:56 and let it play through 6:58. Then repeat. Then repeat again, and again. Try not to laugh.

That aside. Solid word.

As Piper says "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him."

You can actually go to his website and read what he has to say and how he defines Christian hedonism instead of going by what his critics have to say atdesiringGod. org

with all due respect...the world is perishing and there are everlasting outcomes at stake (Piper) + these are 2 of the most faithful men of our times and yet people are wasting their time and breath playing semantics through giddy derision.

Isn't it ironic that nobody is listening to Jesus.Go and make disciples in my name and baptize them in my name, Jesus, God and the Holy Ghost. Is there any church obeying Jesus any more?Matthew25Deny thyself and take up thy cross.Even Paul and Peter, said to a poor cripple man at the temple. We have no money, but what we do have we give you from God.They laid hands on him and he leapt up praising God.
