Sometimes it's just TOO COLD to go without something on the leg. And not ALL dresses look okay with a black stocking. I agree about the close toe shoe with stockings.

I had no idea that pantyhose were so controversial. I'm actually glad to see a number of comments in support of them. I've never been a fan of nude pantyhose (and I've been wearing them for many decades). I always have some color to them. My go-to is a taupe color. And I also wear both sheer and opaque black. I know that not everyone will agree with me, but I think (and I have always, ever since the hose-less leg first made its appearance--for me overseas before the US) the bare leg is frumpier than the leg with hose unless you have very good legs and are very young. I have great skin, so for me, personally, it is not a matter of a lack of self care. But hose provide a more finished, sleek look. Yes, closed-toed shoes.

I will always wear panty hose with formal wear especially, like a wedding. Sometimes black does not work with that. It looks more polished no matter how gorgeous your legs are naturally.

You have a great model like figure and even the frumpy style doesn’t look frumpy on you . The green top actually it seems to me that it’s even more flattering than the white one. That’s just me . You look excellent in everything.
Thanks for the video

I am in South Dakota. Stockings are a must from October thru April.

Great video, Erin! Aging can be tough, especially when so many stores seem to offer mostly frumpy options. You end up “settling, ” and that often lowers your morale. Thank you for your valuable advice, and for the encouragement to be more selective when I go shopping. xo

An unstructured cowl neck shirt can look nice on certain body types. I'm tall, thin, but quite curvy. A nice cowl neck that create a good t shape looks nice for me, but not necessarily for everyone.

I love your “dump the frump” videos. Keep them coming.

Your side-by-side videos are sooo helpful to me in understanding and remembering your tips for wardrobe building. I love it when you make jokes, like imitating a person with hands placed awkwardly in no-no sweater pockets: “Well, hello there.”

It’s amazing how the wrong style of clothing can make you look (and feel) so frumpy. Thank you, great tips

I love your videos. I am 56 and it took me a long time not to wear stockings -- when I was younger no one ever didn't wear stockings with a dress, after about age 18 unless it was summer and a very casual dress (certainly not to work or church). I was shocked when young women started wearing dresses without stockings to work, I thought it looked so unprofessional and childish. I'm finally catching up to the rest of the world but still wouldn't wear a skirt without stockings to work. i wear (yes) No Nonsense nude stockings. At least with the dresses I wear, they look nude on me, and I just FEEL more dressed up. For a while I tried black and opaque black stockings, but where I live no one wears them except in winter. I love tights and black hose in winter. But summer, going to work or to the theater or something formal-ish: it's those nude stockings.

Love your “dump the frump” tips!!! (Though as a tall girl, I was glad to see capris become popular because most regular pants fitted me a couple of inches above the ankle off the rack. Finally looked like I was in style, not wearing high waters!). Seriously, love the advice about how to be stylish and youthful, rather than a old lady clutching at youth! I have been needing shoe ideas! That video at just the right time!!!

For those of us who live in colder climates wearing stockings is an absolute must. I rarely wear hosiery in the summer, except for certain occasions where it is more appropriate to have some coverage such as special religious ceremonies. I have never had a problem finding exceptional nylons that enhance the legs and are virtually undetectable. My advice is to stay away from shiny ones, match the colour, more or less, to your legs, and of course never where them with sandals. The right hosiery creates flawless, beautiful legs that can make those not wearing them look like country peasants by comparison. Perhaps I'm lucky living in a colder place where wearing nylons is the norm, and where I still get compliments from men telling me I have attractive legs—thanks to the magic of nylons!

I have to disagree about the nude stockings. I am a professional in a relatively conservative environment with a dress code and I always wear nude tights in spring and summer and dark tights during the colder months.
I have absolutely no problem showing my legs but i feel that nude tights give structure to my outfits and they make me feel more put together.

I love it. I totally agree with the longer flare leg pants being more flattering. I started wearing them back in the 60s and never stopped. They came, went, came, went, and came again. They always felt right for my figure.

I absolutely love your videos, I love your no nonsense approach, just the facts. They are fun and easy to watch and they are usually short, so there is no excuse not to get the info. Keep up the good work Erin, you are loved. Although I wish nude panty hose would come back, I do not like wearing bare legs in winter and there are still businesses that have a dress code where you have to wear panty hose. I also liked them because I wore the expensive ones that were like Spanx, I believe they were Givenchy (don't think they make them anymore). They made everything smooth when you wore a dress over them, no jiggling when you walked. I am sorry they are not in style anymore.

I have very fit arms. But when I wear a sleeveless like that green one, I look like a construction worker. Also as far a capris, you’re so right! I see so many ladies wearing the crop work out pants to the gym - that stop right below their knees. It makes them look so short and cutoff. They look terrible! The 7/8 length is so much more flattering on everyone. Great video and spot on!

I love these videos! 🤗 One of the first things I did when I started working in a Corp HR position for a bank, was rewrite the mandatory pantyhose policy for women. If you wanted to wear them, then by all means you could continue to do so, but for those who preferred to wear “spanx” in lieu of full length hose, were finally set free! No show foot liners or peds as my mother used to say, are an option for those who dislike wearing shoes without hose or socks. A little self tanner on the legs, and you’re good to go! (In winter months I wear dark hose or tights.) ☺️

The issue about trouser length is something I learned the hard way by trial and error (my legs are fine, but everyone can be made to look worse by the wrong fit/length!) and seeing you explain it here is great confirmation! I laughed out loud with your commentary about not needing to put hands in pockets (especially on your stomach, haha 😆). I totally agree about floppy cowl neck tops and have no idea why clothing companies market these monstrosities (usually aimed at middle-aged and older ladies). Loved that off-shoulder sweater though! Stay well, Erin xo

Mystery of the capri length solved! ty!! I'm petite and capri's are a pain to find the right length. Great suggestion too for the pantyhose, black sheer. loved the booties you had with that skirt too
